A word from Mr Broom

It's been a really productive week in school. Thank you to the staff and parents who came together to discuss the children. I've received lots of positive comments about the success of the event and the quality information shared.

It's an exciting week coming up and I'd love it if you could join us on Tuesday for Story Night at 5-6pm. This is where we focus on fostering a love of reading. Don't forget your PJs and teddy bear!

I also had a real treat today, taking our wonderful Year Six class for the morning while Miss Mackay was delivering training. If you want to know anything about subtracting and adding fractions, ask me! Although I'm not sure who taught who!

Good luck also to some of our children who will be taking part in the cross-country finals at Dalby Forest on Tuesday. I'm sure they'll do us all proud.

Have a lovely weekend.

Story Night - Tuesday - 5-6pm

Come along to our free story night on Tuesday evening from 5-6pm. The evening will start with a whole school story in the hall from Mr Broom, followed by the reading of some exciting books related to the children's age groups for the remainder of the time. We'd really like it if our parents could come along too.

All you need is your pyjamas and a teddy bear (if you have one). See you then.

Specialist Coaching for our Swim Team

A massive thank you to Claire Sutton, our chair of governors, for taking our swim team for private coaching on Monday. The children had the chance to swim in an endless pool as well as pick up some top tips. Even Mr Wooffindin got in on the action, taking a sneaky dip!

We're hoping the skills learned at Sonic's Swim-school will see them well in the up-and-coming swimming gala.

Y2 Volunteer Readers Needed

We can't emphasise enough how important it is to read with children. For this reason, we're looking for some parent volunteers who may have an hour to spare to come and read with our Year 2 children. If you think you have the time, please call the school office for further information.

School Attendance

It's important that children attend school regularly and at Sherburn Hungate we recognise that excellent attendance leads to excellent achievement. Fact!

Our attendance for this week is 95.3%, which is a little short of our 96% target. Let's hope that next week we'll meet it together.

We know that there's lots of bugs around because we've had staff illness too. However, please help us by sending your children to school when they only have sniffles. If they're not well enough to be here, we will send them home.

Our top attending class this week is Year 6 with 100%
