Celebrating Hispanic Heritage
This years Hispanic Heritage celebration kicked off with a geographical representation of our extremely diverse school. Students were asked to sign the flag of their country of origin. It was exciting to see how many different countries that we are proudly representing. Some of the highest numbers included Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and Puerto Rico. We will continue our celebration October 1st through October 6th with our Hispanic Heritage trivia! Students will try and answer questions via a google form and will be entered to win prizes each day.
MAP Testing
Students have just completed MAP assessments this week. Measured Academic Progress also known as MAP is a tool used by Teachers to pinpoint a child's performance and allows for adjustments to be made to fit that students needs. Below is a break down what what each score means.

Anti- Bullying Campaign
"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."- Plato ARMS annual Anti-Bullying campaign is coming soon! Each year our student services team facilitates a school wide campaign that encourages students to stand up and speak out against bullying. Bullying is an often under reported problem that includes repeated harmful acts with a real or perceived imbalance of power that creates a climate of fear. Bullying can range from threats, name calling and physical altercations up to actions that may rise to the level of criminal categories such as harassment, hazing or assault. Nationally about 60 percent of middle school students say that they have been bullied. Students will have the opportunity to make their Anti-Bullying pledge in the mall area. Additionally we will have UNITY day where students may wear an orange top and jeans.
