BCE Bear Mail
Friday October 27th.
No School Wednesday November 1st.
Message from the office.
Hello BCE Community-
Thank you to all who made it to parent conferences. I know that the teachers and I appreciate your time and dedication. Having conferences earlier this year allowed us to get to know everyone sooner, start making goals for all students, and learn how we can all support each other.
Next week is a very busy week. Halloween is always a super fun day at BCE. We will have our annual parade at 9 a.m. on uppers. Please remember that NO MASKS are allowed at all. Costumes need to be school-appropriate. I know most classes are having a little celebration in the afternoon. If you will be on campus, please sign in at the office for safety reasons.
All classrooms participated in a Halloween door decorating contest this past week. Thank you to the three community judges who came to judge the fantastic work from all today. The winners are Best Overall- Mrs. Anderson, Spookiest- Mrs. Thomsen, and Cuties- Ms. Egbert. All three classes will get a popsicle party. Everyone did a fantastic job, and thank you to all the parent volunteers who supported us.
We celebrated the end of Honesty Month today with our monthly awards. Our students always showing us the BCE Way, and honesty is another vital character trait. Congratulations to all those that received awards today.
Please remember we do not have school on Wednesday, November 1st. It is a teacher professional development day.
Have a great weekend.

Attendance Matters
We know people get sick, people get injured, and there can be family or life responsibilities and other issues that are reasonable and excused.
But if your student can attend, they need to be in school.
If your student is out for three or more consecutive days, we may request a doctor's note to continue excusing the absences.
Students who miss 3-5 days will receive a Chronic Absence letter. We will then meet with those families to attempt to support the student attending school. On the second Chronic Absence Letter, families may be required to meet at the District Office to put a plan in place for the student's attendance. On the third Chronic Absence Letter, families may be required to meet with the County Office Student Attendance Review Board for truancy.
Our goal is that nobody ever gets that far along with truancy. We are here to help and support, but it does start at home with the expectation that your student will attend school regularly.

Volunteers
We are excited to have volunteers back on campus. All volunteers need to be cleared with the appropriate paperwork from the office. The office is happy to help if you have questions about your volunteer status.
If you can volunteer this year, we would love to have you. Please speak with your teacher and office staff. All volunteer schedules need to be approved by classroom teachers before volunteers begin in classrooms.
