Takeaways from Grade 5 - Morning Meeting Presentation
Permission Slip Infromation
Chaperone Request Forms
Please forward all the "Chaperone Request Forms" to the office. Our Star Constellations Committee will be making chaperone assignments based on the needs of the group.
Field Trip Permission Forms
Classroom teachers - please keep track of the general permission slip for your students. Please monitor and hold all students accountable for turning it in. Once you ENTIRE class has their forms turned in, please turn them in to the office. Thank you for you support and cooperation with this.
REQUEST for CREATIVE BRAINSTORMING!
We will be asked to "re-enact" the movie scene, video record it, and have played at our Opening Institute Day. Our recorded clip will be played for everyone along with the original clip. This will be a fun and memorable way for all of us to engage with our D44 Strategic Plan.
Here is the request for creative brainstorming:
- Please review the D44 Strategic Plan, specifically the core beliefs, goals, and action plan
- Think of some of your favorite movies and if an important scene comes to mind
- EMAIL Dave your thoughts/ ideas (I will compile them all so that we can come to consensus)
My thinking is that we can use a portion of the time on our very last SIP Day (May 31st) to video our school's submission. Any thoughts that you may have will be greatly appreciated! Please submit all ideas no later than Friday, April 26th.
Awards Recognition Follow Up
Grade Level Award Recognition
With regard to the other more participatory based awards, we can make grade level by grade level decisions. Some options could include:
- Dave coming to your individual classroom to present students with their certificates
- Having a small grade level awards recognition in the LRC, where Dave and grade level teacher present certificates to students
ACTION NEEDED:
Please discuss this at your next grade level PLC and let me know what your team would like to do!
After we give this new process a try, we will reflect and see how we like it. Feedback about how it goes will inform next year's process.
Club Sponsors and Awards-- CERTIFICATE DUE DATE- Friday, May 17th
These certificates will either be presented at an informal grade level ceremony, or individually by Dave visiting classrooms to present them to students.
Last year the following awards certificates were presented:

Highlight REQUEST From the Starcast Crew
Kim Lynch
Family:
My husband is Billy. He is one of 6 boys in a big Irish family, which is a lot of fun! We have a son, William (Liam). Also, I have an older brother, Keith, who is 35 years old and married with two little girls of his own.
I finally got lasik eye surgery! I love being able to wake up in the morning and see perfectly clear.
College:
In 8th grade I was in a competition where I was able to be the band director of our junior high band.
Week Before the Race Day Volunteer Opportunities
"Swag Bag" Stuffing Party in the LRC
We plan to stuff the Stars and Spikes 5K Swag Bags on Monday, April 29th from 3:30- 5:30 p.m. in the LRC. We have hundreds of bags to stuff with items and T-shirts. The more the merrier! Thanks for considering!
Race Route Flyer Distribution
Every house along the race route needs to have a flyer put in their door notifying them of the race. Our plan is to divide up the race route into a number or manageable sections. Because these flyers have to be provided within a week of the race, they will be distributed on Friday, April 26th after school, or on Saturday April 27th, or Sunday, April 28th.
This is a big job, so the more help we have the better! If you are able to join us on Friday night after work, we'll "divide and conquer" for a while, then meet up for food and spirits afterwards!
This is a great way to get your weekend exercise in! Thanks for considering!
If you able to commit to one or more of these volunteer opportunities, please sign up on the google doc linked below!
