Rogers Report
Weekly Family Newsletter - Sept 13th 2021
Week 5 Message from our Principal, Ms. Limon
Rogers Family,
We want all students to have the opportunity to participate in a school club. Since many of our students have been unable to take part due to difficulty arranging after school transportation, this year we have built in a monthly enrichment period into our school day. One Friday a month, students will be able to attend a grade level club during the last hour of school and this Friday will be our first club day. We will still have some after school activities for some upper grade students. We will share information when those programs begin.
I want to remind you about a few other things happening this week:
- This week, on Wednesday ONLY, students may wear a College Shirt with jeans as part of or celebration of Attendance Awareness Month.
- Remind your child to complete a Rogers House Challenge to strengthen their character and earn points for their house at the same time. House Challenges are great activities to complete as a family that help bridge home and school learning.
- Coffee with the Counselor is this Wednesday morning. We will include our Title I meeting on the agenda. The meeting will be recorded for those who cannot attend.
Remember to screen your students at home for COVID symptoms before sending them to school. If you have any questions, call our nurse, Ms. Herrington.
Let us know if we can support you in any way! We Are the Eagles, Watch Us Soar!
In 1988, Congress designated the entire month of September 15th through October 15th as Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM).
This month, Dallas ISD is providing a series of highly engaging programs and activities centered around the celebration, empowerment, remembrance, and appreciation of our students' cultural heritages.

Rogers Reads
We are so excited to get started with our campus reading incentive program,
Rogers Reads! The purpose of the program is to encourage our students to read on a
daily basis by setting weekly and monthly goals. Please do your best to encourage
your student to read at least 20 minutes daily. Students will be using a reading log to track minutes from their teacher. Happy reading!
Coffee with the Counselor and Title I Meeting
Join our Counselor, Mrs. Zamboanga, on the 3rd Wednesday of every month to discuss different topics of interest based on the feedback you all provided on the Family Needs Assessment - please scroll down to find the link and complete if you have not already. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

We need your help for Carpool!
- Make sure to stay in your car while in carpool. If you anticipate needing to get out of your car, please park on Lovers Lane.
- Please be patient about waiting in the carpool line. If you are finding that you are usually in a hurry every morning, then we ask you to add time to your morning routines.
- For afternoons, be aware that the school day technically ends at 3:15. We begin the dismissal process a bit early to ensure that all students are out by 3:15 with the younger students coming out earlier than older students. If you are picking up 3rd-5th students, please come right at 3:15 to give the other parents of only younger kids time to get through. That way you won't hold up the line waiting for your child to come out.
- Skipping people in line is not appropriate. We are a team and we want to model for our students what it looks like to treat others with respect.
Thank you so much for your help! If we operate as a community we can keep everyone safe and keep carpool moving efficiently. Construction will last through winter break so we appreciate your mindfulness and support.
