~ Cool Stuff Going on at Pottsgrove Middle School ~
Director of Facilities Mr. Jeffery Cardwell and Mr. David Risko, took time out of their day to meet with students from Mrs. Frasca’s class during the week of September 9th -- to review the filtration systems and our pumping systems at Pottsgrove Middle School. They also discussed with the students, how pressure is distributed in and outside of the building. This is an example of our STEAM initiatives in the classroom, real life work place processes and also a hands-on approach to curriculum objectives.
A point of focus this year at the middle school is problem solving and critical thinking skills. These skills are parts of the STEAM initiatives specifically in all Core content classes and over-lap into our ENCORE classes. Below are some pictures of a problem-solving activity “Saving Fred” conducted in our 6th grade Science classes. The students had to save Fred using specific materials after his boat had capsized.
