Family Religious Education Program
Faith Formation for all in The Catholic Community of Flint
Catholic Community of Flint FREP Begins this Sunday - October 4, 2020!
- This Sunday, October 4th begins the 14th year of the FREP program known throughout the Diocese of Lansing and beyond! Even as the current Pandemic Health Crisis has been of concern to all, it is encouraging to know families are enthused to participate in FREP again this year. With some new ways of doing things we are anticipating a great year ahead!
- NEW this year, we are very enthused that the FREP Instructors have embraced our First-Ever FREP Website. Information about how to access the website will be shared at our first FREP Meeting. The use of a "one-stop" shop for all families will be a great way for families to stay connected with monthly responsibilities and other info for each grade level posted in a very accessible format by instructors.
- ALSO NEW this year, as class time is slightly shorter, FREP instructors will be making mid-month contact with families for further direction. They be available to answer questions families may have to prepare for the next FREP Meeting Date.
- Due to safety restrictions, there will not be a monthly pot-luck breakfast prior to FREP each Sunday.
- At 9:00 am, families will gather in an appropriate Physical Distancing arrangement in the parish center.
- After very brief announcements, students will be dismissed by grade level to go to their classrooms, then later dismissed at 9:45 so families who chose to, may attend 10:00 mass after FREP.
From The Catechism of the Catholic Church...
CCC 2685 - The Christian Family is the first place of education in prayer. Based on the
sacrament of marriage, the family is the “domestic church” where God’s children learn to pray
“as the Church” and to persevere in prayer. For young children in particular, daily family prayer is the first witness of the Church’s living memory as awakened patiently by the Holy Spirit.
Lesson One for 2020-21 - October FREP Theme: REVELATION
In line with the FREP Curriclum, this year students and adults will be focusing on the first theme of FREP for the year: Revelation and Creation.
The target of learning for families will be on how the beginning of human history, the beauty and awesomeness of creation has inspired people to think of God.
Whether it was the power of a storm or the beauty of a sunset, humans have experienced creation as a revelation of the greatness of our creator. This is a suitable way to begin our work and focus for the 2020-21 FREP year on Sunday!
