November Character Value
COURAGE is our character value for November. This is described as being brave enough to do what you should do or want to do, even when you're afraid. When I'm in the classrooms, we share many examples of showing their COURAGE, ranging from being honest when they've broken something to experiencing the zip line on their field trip. We discuss how GRIT and COURAGE are go-togethers, like peanut butter and jelly because when we show our GRIT, we are often showing COURAGE, too. Thank you for encouraging them to grow their COURAGE at home!

In addition, Falcon Flight of Austin will be doing a flyover salute at 9:30 over RSE and all other LHISD campuses. They will do the missing man formation over the high school. The missing man formation is an aerial salute performed as part of a fly past of aircraft at a funeral or memorial event, typically in memory of a fallen pilot, a well known military service member or veteran, or a well known political figure. Thanks to Josh Curtis, Principal of Santa Rita Middle School and Dad at Rancho, for facilitating this opportunity for all LHISD students.

November Champions of the Month
Kelsey Adamek, Kindergarten Teacher Champion
Kelsey is such a bright light on campus! It is such fun to see her dig into her activities with her students championing them to strive for success! She serves as a leader in the classroom and throughout our school with poise and grace. She has taken on the leadership role for her team and continues to do so even when life is difficult.
She is dedicated to growing herself as well as her students. I never hear her complain or get down. She puts one foot in front of the other and keeps going. Kelsey shows up every day with a smile on her face and a positive attitude! She is a champion for her students and for our school!
Timothy Amerson, 4th Grade Student Champion
Katie Reid, Paraprofessional Champion

Illness and School Attendance
And this important message from our registrar and nurse!
Illness (All Grade Levels)
A child should not be sent to school if he/she is ill. A sick child needs rest in order to recover as quickly as possible. It is very important not to expose other children to any more illness than we can possibly avoid. When your child is ill, please contact the school to let us know he or she will not be attending that day using the link below. State rules require schools to exclude students with certain illnesses from school for certain periods of time. If a child has a fever over 100 degrees, he or she must stay out of school until fever-free for 24 hours without use of fever-reducing medications. Students with diarrhea or vomiting illnesses must stay home until they are diarrhea or vomiting free without use of suppressing medications for 24 hours.
*To report an illness or absence, please visit the RSE ATTENDANCE WEBSITE.
