ILT Update
The ILT met this week to finish the "draft" of our 90 Day Plan for second semester. We will be working on Interrater Reliability for two weeks following our work this week and then move into a unit of study on Coaching. We hope to share our plan in February with the staff, as well as the long range plan, for ILT/Cluster/Monday morning.

News from Central Office
REFERENDUM: I think most of you know that Indiana statute now requires 525 certified signatures in order to put questions regarding school referendums on public election ballots. Thanks to those of you who either carried a petition or signed a petition supporting this effort. We appreciate your work effort and support on behalf of GCS students!
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was enacted in December of 2017. The new law lowered all seven tax brackets in both income ranges and rates. This will result in less dollars withheld from your paycheck for federal income taxes. Expect to see these changes beginning with your February 9, paycheck. At this time, no changes are required to your W-4 to indicate your desired withholding. Please contact the payroll department if you have questions.
Teacher Contracts were sent out to schools/offices last week. Thanks to all principals and school secretaries for your help in this process.
Voluntary Transfers: This is the time of year when some teachers begin to consider their options for the following school year. Teacher employees who wish to be considered for a voluntary transfer (a change in grade and/or subject assignment, transfer to another building, or a vacant position) shall follow the procedure below:
1. Submit a written request for transfer with the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources by March 1st of each school year.
2. After the March 1 deadline, all building and program administrators are notified of those teachers interested in a transfer. Administrators will be mindful of the transfer list as positions become vacant.
3. Teachers wanting to transfer buildings will be considered for/offered a chance to interview with the principal when a position opens. It is the teacher’s responsibility to pursue vacancies that match their desired transfer request by contacting the appropriate administrator.
4. There is no guarantee that a transfer will be granted.
5. Any teacher may at any time express interest in and apply for a posted position regardless of whether or not they have submitted a request for transfer.
For your reference, this language can be found in the Certified Teacher Employee Handbook (pages 7 – 8) located on the GCS website under Staff Services.
