Up for a Game of 20 Questions?
Play "Mystery Animal" with Google -
Can you remember playing the game, "20 Questions"? It has been a favorite of mine for those rainy day recesses (when I lived in an area that had a lot more rainy days.) It is a fun way to have kids answer questions about mystery animals, people, places, or even food.
In addition to just being fun, it helps build important skills, such as effective questioning, communicating, and thinking.
Now Google has provided a way to bring this game to your computer and you can play with your students. With this game, you and your students speak aloud to ask Google a question.
Playing "Mystery Animal"

Other ways to play, is you can do the following on your home unit or a phone app.
- Speak to a Google Home unit and say "OK Google, talk to Mystery Animal".
- Speak to the Google Assistant app on your phone and say "OK Google, talk to Mystery Animal".
Go to the website and click PREVIEW IT HERE. Google will now choose a random animal that you need to guess. You can speak aloud to ask a wide range of "Yes" and "No" questions such as:
- Are you a mammal?
- Do you live in a jungle?
- Do you live underground?
- Do you eat meat?
- Do you live in North America?
Be sure to CLICK ON THE MICROPHONE TO ASK YOUR QUESTIONS!
This is a great opportunity for students to work on creating good questions that will help narrow down the animal. You will have 20 "yes" and "No" questions to try to determine what the mystery animal is.
If you don't guess the animal, Google will let you know what the animal was in the end. GOOD LUCK!
