In the Know With TPELC

April Edition

Welcome!

We would like to give a warm welcome to two new students! Bentley, joined our preschool classroom on March 15. Trinity, joined TPELC on March 16, she is in the toddler classroom. They both have done wonderfully adapting to a new schedule and have done well getting to know the other students. We look forward to spending a lot of time with them.

Summer Program and 2016-2017 School Year

Summer Program- We are planning on having a summer program this year if we have enough children involved. There will be a sign up sheet on the front desk for you to reserve your child's spot.

2016-2017 School Year- We will be sending enrollment forms out soon for next school year. We need to know as soon as possible if your child is returning in the fall so we can plan classrooms accordingly.

On the Move with Infants

Spring has now arrived! Along with the recent season change, we have applied some new changes in the infant classroom as well. The classroom has newly defined subject areas for the infants to explore. Their curiosity has bloomed significantly! Most recently we have been exploring paint in new ways. Such as finger painting, painting with utensils, and painting with our body movements. We are looking forward to discovering spring as many of our infants will be turning the BIG NUMBER ONE this season!

Marvelous Munchkins

The toddler class has been exploring paint! The children have been exploring the textures, colors, tastes, and smells of the paint, as well as creating it. Along with Miss Ruth's guidance, the toddlers picked their favorite color, measured, and mixed the ingredients to make puffy paint! They were so proud of themselves at accomplishing such a task. We have started to use not only our hands to paint but also Q-Tips, sponges, tape, and textured paint brushes. Our next exploration will be clay. The children continue to work on their skill of independence. They are continually expanding their self help skills, by serving themselves food, putting on their own shoes, undressing and cleaning up their work.

Pre-K Press

The preschool class has recently learned about seeds and how plants grow. They have planted a starter garden in the classroom that will soon be transferred to the outdoors. The children have enjoyed taking responsibility for the garden by watering it each day. A couple of the plants have already started to sprout. They have been very observant each day as the plants grow a little more. The children have also shown a great interest in flying animals, insects and aircraft. They have had the opportunity to go to the library to explore these interests. We will continue to learn through the children's interests and provide experiences to help them grow.
