Trinity Church Grant winners
So very proud of these ladies for writing and winning all four grants from the Trinity Episcopal Church. Shaiya Badgley attended the ceremony with her Grandma who is a member of the church and I just got to be a proud Principal! What a wonderful morning of celebration with this church. They awarded 2,000 dollars to our school. And...we also figured out that our school has been awarded 12,000 dollars over the years from this church. IT PAYS...to write grants. Way to go E2! You are inspiring others!
How do you call on students?
I was reminded again of an easy way to call on students when I was in Rita Sanders room this week. Look at the picture. Each student's name is one of the sticks and you just draw out a name. It's fun, exciting, and it allows everyone to have a voice.
5 Reading Strategies that work! Thanks Lori Poore
1. Stretchy Snake--Stretch the word out sound by sound. Then put the sound together and read the word.
S-s-s-t-r-e-t-ch
2. Eagle Eye--Look at the pictures and use them as clues.
3. Tryin' Lion--Read the sentence. Try the word. Reread the sentence and try it again.
4. Lips the Fish--Get your mouth ready to say the first word.
5. Chunky Monkey--Look for chunks (words within words).
This video has really made me stop and think. I hope it encourages all of us to be mindful of those who look differently than us.
