Chimpanzee
Habitat
Chimpanzees live in African rainforests. Also, some live in grasslands and woodlands. The climate is warm and humid. Their home is in mostly trees or in nests of leaves.
Description
The chimpanzee classifies as a mammal. Its special body covering is fur. Its size is from 4 to 5.5 feet tall (1.2 to 1.7 meters) and its weight is from 70 to 130 lbs (32 to 60 kg). Chimpanzees are in large communites and they are very sociable. However, they do not stay in groups all the time. Some may spand an entire day alone. Some unusual characteristic chimpanzees have is that they are the closest animal to humans, they can stand upright, and can learn basic human sign language. Also, chimpanzees know how to gauge each other's feelings by sounds, facial expression, and posture.
Prey/Predator
The chimpanzee's main predator is the human. However, they have other predators such as the jaguar. Chimpanzees are omnivores. They have a varied diet with fruits, plants, insects, eggs, and meat. They find their food and does their eating in mostly in trees.
