"Respect Yourself & Others" Month
As the temperatures rise so does the excitement of our students and staff as we look forward to the traditional end of the school year events. As promised, we have been closely monitoring the directives of the state, particularly as it pertains to our schools and upcoming end of the year celebrations. We are updating our planning and want our parents and families to be informed on all updates as soon as possible. In response to the updated guidelines for outdoor gatherings, spectators WILL be welcome at all track and field days, as has been the tradition in Harrison. We simply ask that spectators who are visiting the property respect personal space as much as possible while we all enjoy the very welcomed sight of our children enjoying their field days. Regarding outdoor mask wearing, the elimination of this protocol by Governor Murphy does NOT apply to schools at this time. However, according to NJ executive order 175, schools have the discretion of allowing staff and students to remove their masks outdoors under extreme conditions or when mask wearing could inhibit one's health. Therefore, beginning today, all students and school personnel will be permitted to remove their masks outdoors, should they choose, when the temperature reaches 75 degrees or higher or they are participating in strenuous physical activity. This will include field days, recess, and physical education classes.
We are looking forward to a safe and enjoyable conclusion to the academic year. As always, we continue to thank our amazing staff and community for your continued support and patience through these difficult times.
Thank you,
Dr. Missy Quinn Peretti, Superintendent of Schools
