Background
Amnesia is a disorder where a person losses their memory for a specific period of time. Amnesia can be caused by a concussion, Alzheimers disease, or alcohol abuse. Symtoms include loss of memory, for example not knowing who you are of where you are. When a person is diagnosed with amnesia, they cannot recall memories from the past, or they have trouble recognizing people. This disorder can be short-term or long-term.
Causes
Causes include getting a concussion, having Alzheimers disease, or alcohol abuse.
Symptoms
Symptoms include loss of memory for a specific time period, for example not knowing who you are or where you are.
Treatments
Amnesia can usually go away with out being treated, but can be treated by taking cognitive or occuptional therapy, or just making notes and reminders.
