Teacher Appreciation Breakfast Cart Service
You can sign up to contribute through this link.
Each year the PSO organizes a Teacher Appreciation breakfast to thank Peirce staff and teachers for their hard work. This year our breakfast cart service will be rolling through the halls the morning of Tuesday May 9. Your food (or monetary) contribution will support this tradition. Because we are taking food to teacher classrooms, individually packaged items are encouraged.
Please drop off your contribution no later than 7:30 am on Tuesday May 9. Contributions can also be left in labeled containers in the refrigerator of the teachers' lounge after school on Monday May 8.

Paint the Path Park Festival at Senn Park on May 20th!
Hello Neighbors!
I am writing to invite you to participate in the Paint the Path Park Festival at Senn Park on Saturday, May 20th from 10am - 1pm. Throughout the event there will be art activities, music, sports, games and food.
We are asking the community to help us paint the pathway that meanders around Senn Park. We've received a generous donation of Rustoleum marking spray paint (it's temporary). Small groups will be allotted a square/length of sidewalk to paint - using the theme unity for inspiration. We are asking people to sign up in advance using the link below. There are approximately 20 spots available. Please help us spread the word!

Vision:
The Senn Park Advisory Council will host a “Paint the Path” community event to paint the sidewalks at Senn Park to create a continuous walking path that connects areas that are currently separated by streets, alleys and buildings. The event will invite community members – artists, schools, block clubs, Chicago Park District, Alderman Osterman’s office, Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, places of worship and more – to design and then paint portions of the sidewalk to celebrate and reflect the Edgewater community. The event will be used to demonstrate the importance of connecting the areas of the park and highlight longer term opportunities for a permanent walking path.
Event purpose and goal:
The purpose of the event is to celebrate the community while working toward implementation of the Senn Park vision. A connected walking path was identified as a priority in the Senn Park Advisory Council’s community engagement and visioning process in 2014-15 to improve the connections between areas of the park. Senn Park is unique because buildings, streets and alleys are physical barriers that separate the turf fields and basketball court from the community gardens, playgrounds and other community areas. The community is committed to improving cohesion at the park by creating a walking path that celebrates the community, arts and local culture (including the diverse student bodies at the adjacent Senn and Rickover High Schools), nature and physical activity. This event also ties to Mayor Emanuel’s Year of Public Art initiative, demonstrating that “art is vital to a neighborhood’s spirit and the quality of life for residents.”
Thank you,
Elizabeth Shank
