Coloma Junior High

Week of October 11th, 2021

Delayed Start Wednesday - Oct 13th

On Delayed Start Wednesday's our building opens at 9:30 and classes begin at 10:00am.

After School Study Hall

We are offering After School Study Hall. After School Study Hall is designed to provide a quiet place for students to:

  • Work on homework
  • Get organized
  • Receive Extra Help
  • Have reliable wifi to complete assignments

Study Hall is open from 3:10 - 4:10 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Students must have their own transportation at 4:10

No registration is needed - students can drop in as they need to or as your schedule allows.

Halloween Dance - Thursday, Oct. 21st 5pm - 7pm

Our Annual Halloween Dance will be our first No Referral Party of the year. Students can earn the opportunity to attend by not receiving a written discipline referral during the month of October. Following building expectations is the easiest way to earn the opportunity!

Tickets will be on sale the week of the dance for $5.

(Ticket sales help us cover the cost our our DJ.)

We encourage students to wear costumes with the following rules

  • Masks that completely cover the face are not allowed
  • Look alike weapons are not permitted
  • Please keep the blood and gore to a minimum

We will have snacks, drinks and pizza for sale that evening as well.

We are looking for Parent Volunteers!

We are looking for Parent Volunteers to chaperone dances and more. Be sure to complete the volunteer application here!

Picture Retakes - Oct. 22nd

Picture Retakes are schedule for Oct. 22nd. Students just need to come down when called for picture retakes on the morning of 10/22. This is also for anyone that missed our first picture day.

This Week in Second Step Lessons

Every week when we conduct a new lesson, we will let families know what is covered so that you can continue to support the initiative from home.

Topics this Week

6th Graders will learn how to stay on track for their goals by monitoring progress, and making adjustments

7th Graders will continue to talk about identifying road blocks and developing "if-then" plans

8th Graders will imagine who they want to be in the future.

Continuing the Conversation at Home

6th Grade families - You can continue the conversation by asking about your child's goals and their progress.

7th Grade families - You can ask your child to discuss their If-Then Plans with you.

8th grade families - You can continue the conversation by asking your child what they want their life to look like in the future, what skills they want to have and values they will hold.
