Park Terrace Elementary
January 26, 2022 Newsletter
Greetings Park Terrace Families!
I am pleased to report some good news! Absences for both staff and students have been improving over the past several days. We are all hopeful this is the beginning of a longer-term trend. Thanks to the incredible work of so many we have been able to keep learning going strong during this latest surge. I am truly grateful for the teamwork shown by all and the overwhelming commitment to the health, safety and learning of our children.
Conferences and Communication
It is late January already. This is often the time we communicate about winter conferences and parent/teacher communication opportunities. It’s important that you have an update on your child’s learning progress and a chance to connect with your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns you may have.
By the end of February, expect a communication from your Park Terrace teacher(s). They will be reaching out during the month with an update on your child’s academic and social/emotional progress at school. Your child’s teacher may communicate about your child’s progress with you in a written update, through a phone call or invite you to a WebEx meeting. Of course, as always, please reach out to your child’s teacher any time you have questions and concerns. We look forward to connecting with you as part of our continued partnership.
Important Dates
As we look ahead to the coming month please keep some important dates in mind:
- Tuesday, February 1 – We will be hosting our Kindergarten Kickoff event, 5:30-7 p.m. If you have a kindergartener starting next year, stop on by to learn more!
- Thursday, February 10, 5:30-7:30 p.m. is the 5th grade kickoff and Intro to Westwood. Plan to stop by Westwood and attend several brief, topic-specific information sessions and tour the building. Online intro sessions for 4th grade families were yesterday. You’ll receive a link to a recorded session in the coming days.
- Thursday, February 17 - Monday, February 21 there is no school. These are staff workdays and the President’s Day holiday.
Finally, this is a great week to get your tickets for the Panther Party on Saturday, February 26 at 7 p.m. featuring “Good for Gary.” For $75 you’ll get a ticket to the party and make a donation to the Panther Foundation. To learn more and get tickets, visit the Panthers for a Purpose event page. It’s going to be fun!
Have great rest of the week, Panthers! Stay warm and work hard!

Free home COVID-19 antigen tests for students
The Minnesota Department of Health has provided one home COVID-19 antigen test for each student. They are Binax Now test kits. We will be distributing one test kit to each student this week. If a student doesn’t want one, they do not have to take one home.
It’s time to start planning for the 2022-2023 school year!
