- With the recent decision by CHSAA to allow for additional fall sports to start soon, Severance High School is working closely with WHS and the school district to determine if we will play fall football or spring football. The Cheer and Dance teams will participate in the same season that the football team does. Look for more information on this decision on Monday. IF we play fall football, practice will start on Thursday, September 24, with the first game most likely October 9.

FOR THE LOVE OF CHOCOLATE
My first trip to Germany was between my freshman and sophomore year in college. I decided to participate in my university’s summer abroad program at the Goethe Institut in Göttingen, West Germany (yes, I’m showing my age). It was that amazing summer when I discovered my love for all things German including German chocolate. My favorite was a brand of chocolate in a purple wrapper that I found at a local grocery store. Milka chocolate became my chocolate of choice. At the time, Milka could only be found in Germany, but now you can find it in many countries including the U.S. For more than 100 years, Milka has been primarily produced in Lörrach, Germany, producing about 140,000 tons of chocolate in 2012. It is sold in bars and a number of novelty shapes for Easter and Christmas. Milka also produces chocolate-covered cookies and biscuits. Milka brand’s name is derived from a portmanteau of the product’s two main ingredients: “MILch (milk) and KAkao (cocoa or chocolate).” Whatever brand of chocolate you fancy, try a true taste of Germany. Grab a Milka bar and enjoy. I love the “Alpenmilch”. Why they even have Oreo! Probier es mal! Bis nächste Woche!
