Pre ACT Opportunity
Humble ISD will offer the Pre-ACT to interested 8th, 9th, and 10th-grade students on Saturday, April 4, 2020. Registration will close on March 6, 2020. The cost to take the Pre-ACT is $25, which is payable online via this link - https://aptsusa.com/humbleact/. (registration link embedded in the attached promo document as well).
WLMS Cheerleading & Mascot Tryouts
Cheerleader and mascot tryouts will be held April 20th - 24th. A parent informational meeting will be held Tuesday, March 3rd from 6 - 6:30 PM in the WLMS LGI. Email Jennifer Smither (jennifer.smither@humbleisd.net) or Christina Clegg (christina.clegg@humbleisd.net) for more information.
February Super Staffer
Congratulations to Mrs. Templeton, 6th grade Science teacher! Mrs. Templeton is our February Super Staffer and was voted on by her fellow WLMS staff members for her dedication to her classroom and her leadership of StuCo.
Teacher of the Year - Mrs. Fruge'
Congratulations to the WLMS teacher of the Year! Mrs. Fruge' was nominated by her fellow teachers, staff, students and parents for her endless dedication to WLMS. She leads the yearbook team, the daily WLMS broadcasts and the photography club!
WLMS All-Star Counseling Team
Congratulations to the WLMS Counseling Team, Mrs. Jill Knoeller and Ms. Jennifer Vandenbrook! The WLMS team won the prestigious CREST Award this month at the Texas School Counselor Association conference. This is awarded to school counseling programs that meet CREST requirements. The CREST award is given for continuous improvement documentation that school counseling programs can use to demonstrate effective communication and a commitment to obtaining results.
Congratulations TSA!
If you haven't already heard, our TSA team did amazing work at their competition February 28th! It was a super busy day, sometimes very chaotic, and sometimes slow, but overall we pretty much dominated in the middle school competitions. The team really stepped up today and really put forth their best efforts. All of them competed in the minimal 2 events, but most of them had multiple events to compete in.
After analyzing the data, here is how we fared.....
14 - 1st places
13 - 2nd places
14 - 3rd places
99 total state qualifying places just from regional contest.
This is really a testament to their work ethic and to the education these kids are receiving at home, at West Lake, and in Humble ISD. Now we are just getting started with even more hard work to come with over 150 competition events to tackle by April 15.
