Winter Sports Post Season
Winter Sports Post Season is here:
Girls Basketball:
- WesKing District Playoffs vs Bothell at Lake Washington HS on Thursday, February 16 at 3:00 p.m.
- Tickets must be purchased on the GoFan App. Scan the QR Code or click the link to purchase your tickets.
For post-season events, all spectators must pay for admission to the games, including home students. Ticket Prices:
- $7 – Adults, HS Students w/o ASB, Elementary and Middle School Students without accompanying paying adult
- $5 – HS students with ASB, Elementary and Middle School Students with accompanying paying adult, Seniors
Tickets must be purchased in advance via the GoFan app or scan the QR Code.

2023-2024 Registration
Tuesday, February 14, kicks off course registration for 2023-2024 school year with an informational video during Grizzly Period. On that day, students will receive registration materials including a course catalog. This year, registration will not be online but instead students will meet with a counselor and turn in a registration form. Counselor registration meetings will occur on the following dates:
· February 21-23: current 11th graders in US History.
· February 28-March 2: current 10th graders in Modern World History
· March 9-11: current 9th graders in English 9.
Those absent during counselor visits will be invited to complete the registration process during a specific Grizzly Period in March.

Nick of Time Foundation Screenings
The Nick of Time Foundation will be holding their last youth heart screening for this school year at Jackson High School on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. To date they have 187 students signed up and would like to get to 350 minimum and have opened up the opportunity to other local schools. Click here for the details regarding the screening, as well as links to required paperwork and pre-registration.
All parents or students need to pre-register for an appointment at this link and select Jackson High School event. Required paperwork can be found at www.nickoftimefoundation.org. Spring Sports
Spring sports begin on February 27 it is time to get your paperwork completed. Details on required paperwork can be found on the Glacier Peak Athletics webpage. Spring sports include baseball, softball, boys and girls track & field, boys soccer, girls tennis, boys and girls golf and girls badminton.

Junior Parents! We need parent volunteers to help with check in at the beginning of the grad night event. For your volunteer time, you will receive a discount on your students grad night ticket next year. Contact the Grad Night Committee for more information and to volunteer.
Seniors! The Local Scholarship Program is Now Open!
The Snohomish Education Foundation's Local Scholarship Program is now available on the washboard.org for the Class of 2023
Please use the following resources to apply to the over 60 scholarships available to GPHS students:

- List of scholarships available to GPHS students
- List of sections that should be completed on the washboard profile to apply for LSP scholarships (hint: you do not need to share testing or FAFSA info).
- PowerPoint with step by step instructions on how to set up a washboard account and how to apply to scholarships
- FAQ including financial need and community service questions
- Please include your transcript with 1st semester grades! Transcripts will be available Feb 3, request an updated copy from the College and Career Center
- Deadline is March 5, 2023

The 2023 Washington Opportunity Baccalaureate Scholarship is Now Open!
The Washington Opportunity Baccalaureate scholarship provides up to $22,500 in financial aid support and access to career-launching support services for students pursuing high-demand STEM and health care majors. This scholarship can be used to cover tuition, fees and other indirect costs of attendance such as housing, transportation, food and more. Funding can be used for any eligible STEM or health care degree at any eligible public or private college or university in Washington state.
- Eligibility Requirements: students must demonstrate financial need, intend on attending a Washington four-year institution fall of 2022, have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75, and pursuing an eligible science, technology, engineering, math or health care major
- Application deadline (including FAFSA submission): February 28, 2023

Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship
Glacier Peak High School may nominate one senior for the Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship. If you would like your counselor to consider you for nomination, please complete this form. Awards for this scholarship range from $500 to $2,000 a year and are renewable for up to four years. For more information on the scholarship: https://carmanscholarships.org/. Deadline to complete the request for nomination form is March 13 at 5 p.m. Please see the College and Career center with any questions!

Student Drop Off/Bus Loop
Closed Campus - NO Food Deliveries Please
Just a reminder that our campus is a closed campus and we do not except Uber eats, Door dash or any food delivery services to our campus. Parents/Guardians are welcome to drop items off to our main office as needed, but we ask that you do not use delivery services to help eliminate unauthorized people on our campus. Our students’ security and safety is our utmost priority, we appreciate your understanding with this matter.
Attendance Reporting
Recently we have been having a higher number of unexcused absences, the safety and whereabouts of our students is our top priority. To help us keep track of your student during the school day, we would like to provide these helpful reminders and tips for reporting an absence, a late arrival or request for an early dismissal:
Excusing your child’s absence: There are four convenient ways to excuse an absence:
- Call the attendance line 360-563-7505
- Enter a request in Family Access/Skyward
- Email gph-attendance@sno.wednet.edu
- A written note signed by a parent/guardian or medical/dental provider
- Please provide your student's first and last name, the date of the absence and a reason for the absence.
- An absence will be considered excused when we receive notification from a parent or legal guardian in the attendance office within 48 hours of the absence.
If you need your student for an appointment during the school day, please call the attendance office at 360-563-7518. If you need to leave a message the attendance secretary will see/hear the message very quickly.
