BGS PTO News & Happenings
More Than Halfway There!
This week we celebrated our 100th Day of School! In addition to 100th Day activities at each grade level, the PTO decorated the outside of the school for the occasion and our staff and students dressed up like 100 year olds (see pics below). That means we're more than halfway through the school year! Time flies when you're having fun!
The Read-A-Thon Is Back!
Our biggest fundraiser of the year starts next week! Student login info will be sent home soon so keep an eye out!
If you're not familiar, our annual read-a-thon is our biggest fundraiser of the year and helps fund a needed upgrade to our school each year. This year's read-a-thon will begin on February 22nd. Each child will receive a unique login where you can help them setup their read-a-thon page and customize their owl avatars.
Once we officially start, students will read daily and log the minutes they've read each day all while asking friends and family to sponsor their reading efforts. Be on the look out for fun incentives for logging reading and getting sponsors as well as fun weekly challenges.
Chairpersons Needed!
With that said, this event will not be possible without a few volunteers to make it happen. First and foremost we're looking for a dynamic duo to co-chair this event. Nearly all the work can be done from home and the PTO board will assist you every step of the way! Please reach out to the PTO Presidents at bgsptopresident@gmail.com if you would like to find out more or if you're interested in helping out!
Calling All 4th Grade Parents!
If you have a 'graduating" 4th grader please be on the lookout for info regarding yearbooks coming soon. Not only will the yearbook sale be starting soon with special discounted "early bird" pricing but we'll be putting out a call for all 4th grade parents to upload pictures to be included in the yearbook!
Please start looking through your pictures now! We'll be asking for "Then and Now" pictures, "Throwback" pictures, etc. We are looking for pictures that only include 4th graders (sorry - no siblings or family). If you've been a class parent in years past, we're especially interested in pictures from class parties and school events from previous years! Pictures from distance learning are also welcome! With COVID restrictions and limited access to the building we'll be relying on our parents and teachers to help provide content so our graduating Bears have an awesome yearbook to remember their time at BGS!
PTO Board Members Needed For Next Year!
Board members for next year are typically voted in during our May or June meetings so don't wait to raise your hand!
