Join us at Brooks School Park on Thursday, May 25th from 5pm – 7pm as we bid the school year a fond farewell. There is no cost to attend, but bring cash for Hot Box Pizza and Rita’s Ice & Frozen Custard. DJ Mike will be there to keep the party going! Hope to see you there!

Microwave Update

Last week we put a message out for gently used microwaves.


The Domenech family has graciously donated a brand new microwave for us. THANK YOU!


We are still in need of a second microwave, so if anyone has a gently used one they would like to pass on to us, we would gratefully accept your donation.

Committee Chairs Needed:

The PTO is still looking to fill a few committee chair spots for next year. If you are interested in chairing the Staff Appreciation Committee or the Talent Show, or have questions about what those committees involve, email Sara Weinberger at sara.e.weinberger@gmail.com. Both of those committees can be done with more than one person. Team up with a friend! Let us know if you are interested in getting more involved!


Save the Date for ICE CREAM SOCIAL 2.0!!

On Monday, August 7th from 5:30-7:00 PM we’re moving our “social” outside behind the school. The building will be open so that you can locate your child’s classroom, but you’ll find your teacher outside on the playground with DJ Mike, food trucks and treats, and all the normal information you’d find. Come hungry and ready to have some back to school fun!

Late Yearbook Orders

We have a limited number of extra yearbooks still available on a first come, first served basis. The cost for late orders is $20 and will only be accepted if accompanied by payment.


PLEASE PUT CASH/CHECK IN AN ENVELOPE WITH STUDENT NAME, GRADE, AND TEACHER WRITTEN ON THE OUTSIDE.

4th Grade Class Picnic (Volunteers, and Donations Needed)

On Thursday, May 25 (the last day of school) we will be sending our 4th graders off with a Farewell Picnic! If you would like to join us, or help with a donation, please click here to sign up.


Remember, all volunteers will need to have a completed background check on file. No siblings. Only volunteers are allowed to attend for safety purposes.

Order Your School Supply Packs

Our school supply list for next year can be found by clicking here. Additionally, our PTO has arranged for families to have the option of purchasing supplies through Educational Products, Inc. If you would like to pre-order your supplies, you can do so on EPI's website by clicking here. You'll need our school code, which is BRO283.

Lunch Price Change for 2017-2018

On April 26th the school board approved a ten cent paid lunch price increase for the 2017 - 2018 school year. The new prices are:

K-6: $2.60

7-12: $2.75

The Collaboratory NEEDS Supplies!

Help us stock the MakerSpace at BSE for 2017-2018. The BSE Bears LOVE their collaboratory, and having access to materials to construct makes our project based environment much more powerful. We need the following materials for the next school year!


  • Masking Tape
  • Glue Sticks
  • Paint - Any washable water based any color
  • Wood Shapes
  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Wall Paper Samples
  • Wood Scraps (small)
  • Buttons
  • Yarn
  • String
  • Anything that catches your eye that looks fun for kids to build/construct with.

Art Room in Need

CDs & DVDs: The art room needs old CDs, DVDs, etc. for a weaving project that the 3rd and 4th graders are doing.


PLASTIC LIDS: Please save all your plastic lids. We need all sizes and colors. The art room will be creating a collaborative recycled art piece with the lids. We need 100s and 100s!!

It’s hard to believe the end of the year is in sight! May is such a busy month at HSE Schools, but it is also the perfect time to recognize a special teacher or staff member that has made a difference for your child.


As you are considering staff appreciation, go beyond the mug by nominating any HSE Schools teacher, counselor, nurse, bus driver, custodian, food service team member, administrator, or other staff member to the Professional Honor Roll.

Tie Dye Palooza with Mrs. Flynn!!

Taught by Flynn’s Craft Corner (program partner with Fishers Parks Dept)


Kick off your summer break with some tie dye fun! In this workshop students will learn multiple tie dye techniques. Students can bring old t shirts, pillow cases, socks, etc. to tie dye. All fabric must be white or a very light color.

Early Release Mondays Coming to HSE (2017-2018 School Year)

Dear HSE Parents and Guardians:


To provide teachers with consistent and more frequent opportunities for professional development, Hamilton Southeastern Schools will implement a 20-minute, early-release day each Monday for students, K-12, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year. In turn, teachers will remain 25 minutes later on Mondays for a total of 45 minutes of professional development time each week. The first observance will be Monday, August 14, 2017.


The new weekly meetings will replace the four professional development half days currently in the 2016-2017 calendar. A link to the 2017-2018 school calendar is below:

Summer Camp Information

MINECRAFT SUMMER CAMPS!

  • Indy Stem Camps will be offering two Minecraft Camps during the week of July 10th-14th to be held in the Riverside Intermediate School Computer Lab. The two camps that will be offered are...
  1. "World of Minecraft Camp" (9:00a.m.-12:00p.m.) - For beginner/intermediate skill level students entering grades 1-6.
  2. "Advanced Minecraft Engineering Camp" (1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.) - For intermediate/advanced skill level students entering grades 3-8.
