Claxton is hosting three Open House days for new families Jan 30-Feb 1 as a part of the Magnet School Enrollment for next year. We need volunteers to welcome new families and volunteers to serve as tour guides (assisting some of our wonderful students who will also be helping out.) We still have a few spots left for tour guides - please click here and choose a time slot (or two!) as your schedule allows!
A few things to keep in mind:
- You are exactly who we're looking for! There's no experience required to be a tour guide - other than your love for Claxton! We'll give everyone a brief outline of the main information you'll need.
- Mr. Edwards and Mrs. Nichols will be on hand to answer any specific questions that prospective parents might have.
- Students from the Claxton Lighthouse Team have been trained to assist with all of the tours.
Please contact Jenny Bunn at 828.551.1265 if you have any questions and THANK YOU!
Auction Tickets Available for Purchase Today!
This year’s Silent Auction goes downtown and gets funky like Bruno Mars on Friday, March 23rd, 2018. This is our PTO’s largest fundraiser. Proceeds from this event go toward many programs at Claxton such as the Playground project, LEAF in Schools and Streets, Claxton’s Storytelling Festival, teacher mini grants, field trip scholarships, books and supplies for classrooms and more. Profits from the auction greatly enhance the school’s Arts and Humanities magnet theme and generous donations from businesses, groups and individuals in our community enable us to continue these wonderful programs at our school.
Do you know of a business, group or individual that would like to participate in this incredible event? Would you like to volunteer to assist in managing this fun party with a purpose? Email the PTO Auction Chair Julie Porter Shirley at jcportershirley@gmail.com with any questions or suggestions!

Box Tops 4 Education
Did you know that the money that Claxton receives from the Box Tops 4 Education program directly benefits Coach Swain's PE program?! Claxton is ALWAYS collecting Box Tops, and we want your help!
You can start by clipping the Box Tops off approved products you already have in your pantry. You don't need to clip the actual product UPC — just the Box Tops logo will do. From frozen foods to produce and household cleaning products, there are literally hundreds of opportunities to help, and each Box Top is worth 10 cents. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it adds up fast. Box Tops are collected in the clear plastic bears located in the front hallway and gymnatorium.
There are so many participating companies! Participating companies and product lines include General Mills, Green Giant, Totino's, Pillsbury, Old El Paso, Ziploc, Hefty, Juicy Juice, Betty Crocker and many more. Here is a link to the participating brands.
The Box Tops 4 Education program offers new discount coupons on popular brands each month and also offers benefits for online purchases! Click here to see this month's offers.
Clip those tops and lets fill those bears for Coach Swain!
