A Word from the Principal
By now you have received the message that we are again grieving. This community loves deep and with that comes the side that we hurt deeply when one of our family hurts. My heart is heavy for those who knew Allison and who know her family. Please keep them in your thoughts as they navigate their life after the loss of Allison. We will continue to have support available for students over the coming days if they need anything. As parents please utilize the experts that are here to help. There is no red flag too small. If you are concerned at all about how your student is handling things please reach out. One thing I have learned over the last 18 years is that a “normal” teenager and a teenager in crisis often are very similar. We are here to help! On a classroom related note, it is time to start thinking about finals and how to prepare. For some students this may be the first time they have experienced a cumulative test of any kind. Helping them to start preparations early, to review the entire semester, to ask questions of their teachers about what to expect will assist in limiting the stress over the next few weeks. If your family is anything like mine, additional stress in December is the last thing you need! Don’t forget our Freshman Curriculum and Preview night tomorrow starting at 6. While the target audience is new students to AHS anyone with questions about curriculum, scheduling or career pathways are welcomed! We will have a JR/SR parent meeting tomorrow evening as well. That meeting will start at 7. We look forward to seeing you there!
