Newsletter Week 3 Term 3

Huirangi Primary School, Monday 9th August 2021

Kia Ora Koutou, Hello Everyone!

What a busy place! School is humming with loads of learning! It has been heartwarming to hear the discussions and excitement the children have experienced through watching the Olympic Games. What awesome role models we have across Aotearoa for our kids!

This week all of our classes attend the Reef Alive exhibition at Puke Ariki. This will provide our tamariki with new knowledge about the animals that live in, on and pass by our offshore reef. Every class will have the opportunity to conduct experiments and also discuss global environmental issues that affect our oceans, exploring ways we can protect them.

Production rehearsals and cross country practices are all happening. There will be more information in the next newsletter about our school and cluster cross country events. Please read the information carefully and mark these dates on your calendars.

This term each class will be talking about the Family/Whānau Value. This is the F in our school's R.A.F.T Values. It encompasses the ways in which we communicate and collaborate to build positive relationships with others. Classes will be exploring this in detail and it will be celebrated at the end of term assembly.

Kia pai tō wiki (have a great week).

Ngā mihi nui,

Natalie Looney

Wacky Hair Day-Friday 20th August

Some schools in New Plymouth have opted in to raise money to donate to the Mellowpuff Trust. This trust is Taranaki based. Its objective is to remind children that they are special no matter what their circumstances may be by providing financial assistance, experiences and functions to ease children's worries.

To support the trust, our House Captains have organized to hold a Wacky Hair Day on Friday 20th August. We encourage all tamariki to come to school with a wacky hair do and a gold coin as a way to show our appreciation and support to the trust. This money will be presented to Terry and Tanya Long (Mellowpuff Trustees), at the New Plymouth Principal's Association Conference on September 9th.
