Mrs. Hladun's Tidings

This time of year is so bittersweet. Of course, our students and staff are anticipating summer break with glee, but there is also a sense of uncertainty about what each day and next year might look like. The structure that most teachers provide is a little topsy turvy given field trips, testing, and the weather (what???). Some students roll with it easily, but if your student is demonstrating a change in his/her behavior, take a look at the visual below for some inspiration on how to support your kiddo. Please know we are doing the same here at school!

OPEN HOUSE IS ON THURS., 5/23! Our Open House is scheduled for Thursday, May 23rd in the evening. Check out the details for the evening below! We hope you will join us!

  • NO SCHOOL ON MON., 5/27: In honor of Memorial Day, there is no school on Mon., 5/27.
  • WEEK OF 6/3: As a reminder, school is on Monday schedule (1:40 release) every day the week of 6/3-6/7. Please plan ahead with pick up plans and after school care!
Big picture

PTC Update

The biggest thanks must be extended to our outgoing PTC for their work supporting our staff, students and community. Kari Swift (Co-President), Alicia Andes (Co-President), Jenna Harwood (VP), Cortney Morgan (Treasurer), and Melanie Franklin (Secretary) have given their all to our school this year! Their work is often behind the scenes, but our staff and students are grateful for the funding they provide each class and grade level, the computers they help us acquire, the books they help us add to the library, the school safety initiatives they support, and more! Our community is stronger thanks to the events they host and opportunities they provide for families to engage and connect with our school.

We are look forward to continuing the wonderful work of our past PTCs. Please join me in welcoming our incoming PTC board - Jenna Harwood (President), Jessica Lackey (VP), Cortney Morgan (Treasurer) and Jackie Bergkvist (Secretary). Be watching for updates on the 19-20 year's plans and meetings from the new board in the coming weeks and over the summer!

Colt Gathering

We will be hosting our last Colt Gathering of the year this month. Identical sessions will be held in the library on Wed., 5/29 at 6 pm (care is available for school aged children) and Thurs., 5/30 at 9:45 am.

We will review our progress towards our 2018-19 goals, the highlights from our parent survey, and we'll preview our goals/plans for 2019-20. Please join us! No RSVP is needed...just come!

Peter Pan, Jr. Video

We are happy to give families copies of the Peter Pan, Jr. production digitally. Please bring a new flash drive (minimum of 10GB in size) in a baggy or envelope labeled PPJ and your name. We'll copy the file to the drive and let you know when you can pick it up in the office! Contact Pam with any questions at 916 434 5292.

Open House - Thursday, 5/23

Open House is a special time where we can celebrate all the learning your child has engaged in over the year. Many families also pop into the next grade level's classroom to get a sense of what's to come. We look forward to welcoming you to campus!

You may have noticed that we pushed our Open House back one week. We made this decision in order to better accommodate for state testing (did you know that during testing, we have to cover all content on the walls!) and to better align the evening to the end of the year activities and mindset!

Here is the schedule of activities for Open House evening:

  • 5:00-7:30 - Book Fair open (one night ONLY - exact time & location TBD)
  • 5:30-5:45 - 4th Grade Ukulele Performance in the MPR (arrive to the MPR by 5:25)
  • 5:50-6:10 - 3rd Grade Recorder Performance in the MPR (arrive to the MPR by 5:45)
  • 5:45-6:45 - Science, Speech and RSP Classrooms are open to families
  • 6:15-7:15 - TK-5 Classrooms are open to families
