Geothermal
Alternative Energy Sources
How does the technology work?
Uses Earths thermal properties to provide unprecedented efficiciency.
Where does the energy source come from and is it renewable or non-rewable
The world geothermal comes from the Greek words geo which means earth and therme which means heat. Basically geothermal energy is heat energy harvested from the Earth itself. Geothermal heat is produced by the core of the Earth itself. Geothermal is renewable.
Is it costly?
Yes, Geothermal is very costly.
What impacts does it have on the environment?
Geothermal energy doesn’t produce pollution, and at the same time, it doesn’t contribute to the greenhouse effect! Geothermal is good for the land.
List at least 2 advantages and 2 disadvantages of using this energy source.
Advantages:
1. The power stations for geothermal energy does not take up a whole lot of room, and because of this, they tend to have less of an impact on the surrounding environment.
2.geothermal efficiency offers an even more exciting benefit to the frugal homeowner
Disadvantages:
1.sometimes a geothermal site might literally run out of steam.
2.When you are drilling into the earth and steam is able to escape, other - not so friendly - things might escape too.
