Welcome Back to School
Dear SAUSD Families,
Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year! As many of you have experienced, this is a very different beginning of a new school year. This week has been full of challenges, but also opportunities to learn and grow together. The Family Community and Engagement Department is here to help you navigate those challenges and help you connect with those that can best support you. We want to provide you tools that will help your student's be academically successful this year.
During this time it is very important that we practice kindness. Practice kindness with yourselves, kindness with your children, and kindness with your community. Be kind to yourself, take care of yourself, and takes breaks if needed. We all function best when our well being and emotions are taken care of. Be kind to your children, they too are learning new technology or getting used to being online after a few months of summer vacation.

SAUSD Nutrition Services Update
The Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) is renewing its commitment to providing free, nutritious food for students by continuing to distribute meals at all schools sites even as the District pivots to full online learning for the start of the new school year.
- Every SAUSD school campus will have lunchtime meal service beginning Aug. 17, 2020. Meals will be served Monday through Friday in a walk-up fashion; distribution times will vary by location. Students will receive a lunch, a “super snack” (supper), and breakfast for the next day.
- Parents/guardians and students can pick up meals at any school site regardless of where they are enrolled, and meals must be consumed off-site.
- Free meals will only be available to enrolled SAUSD students. Students do not need to be present, however a student’s name and I.D. number are required.
- Parents/guardians and students can pick up their meal service I.D. cards at their enrolled school.
- Meal service I.D. cards are not required to be served a meal, however, parents/guardians and students are highly encouraged to scan their I.D. cards to keep lines moving faster.
- SAUSD will continue to abide by social distancing guidelines during lunchtime meal service for the safety of our school communities. Parents/guardians and students picking up meals for children must wear a face covering and maintain six feet of separation at all times.
