Message from the Middle School
March 17, 2016
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! The Middle School showed their spirit with “the wearing of the green.”
The PTSO Dragon Festival was a great success and so was our annual “Cake Walk”. Thank you for your donations for the “Cake Walk” and the PTSO gift basket raffle. The lucky winners got great baskets
Our PI Day was on March 16, 2016. Under the direction Thalia Culberson and the math department, our Tribes competed in a Math Olympiad, and a math relay. It was very exciting and all students were involved. We would like to stress how important it is that your child attends EACH Tribe day. These are not optional activities, rather they are important events which have themes and team building practices. Each month we highlight different areas including academics, sports, games etc. This supports our school wide goal of developing a thoughtful caring community. Our next Tribes activity is in April, Science Day. Our students become “teachers” as they guide elementary students through a variety of science concepts.
On March 11, 2016, we said good bye to Mrs. Alison Avila, our seventh grade English teacher. We are all sorry to see her go and will miss her bright smile and enthusiasm. We are very happy to report that Karla Rees, former MS seventh grade English teacher has agreed to step in and take over. Welcome back to the Middle School, Ms. Rees.
As you know, all of Balboa Academy is dedicated to displaying PMA (positive mental attitude) in support of Kelly Dillon. We are pleased to report that Kelly has been discharged from the hospital and is currently recuperating with her family in the States. She amazed her doctors and hospital staff with her rapid recovery and her ability to leave the hospital so quickly. She should be getting her lab reports soon. Keep her in your prayers and focus on PMA. We love you Kelly!
