Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to Amend Section 504-Deadline March 20, 2017
The U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division is amending regulations regarding implementation of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. There is a question and answer document that discusses the recommended changes. You can comment at
www.regulations.gov and search for 2017-01057. Remember comments must be submitted on or before March 20, 2017.
Parent and Educator Resource Guide
U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, Parent and Educator Resource Guide to Section 504 in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools (December 2016).
This resource guide is to help parents of students with disabilities understand the obligations imposed under Section 504. In particular, the resource guide summarizes key requirements of Section 504, and aims to increase understanding of these requirements for both parents and members of the school community alike.

Pamela Baker, Ph.D., is a Program Coordinator for the Special Populations Support Services and Section 504 for Region 10 Education Service Center in Richardson, TX. She is responsible for coordination and development of services and programs to meet the needs of special populations instructional and support personnel. She has over 32 years of educational experience at the local, regional, state, and federal level.
