Lincoln Bulletin-

This week on Tuesday at Lincoln and across the world educators celebrated International Dot Day! This is a day to encourage all students, adults, parents, teachers to encourage creativity, expression and highlight individuality through acknowledgment and inspire people to "Make their Mark! Each student and staff member was given a box of Dots candy and a piece of chalk. The above pictures are from that day at recess. This originated from a teacher after reading Peter Reynold's book who designated September 15 as International DOT Day. I recorded myself reading the book and shared it with classrooms, ask your student about this and how they plan to make their mark this year.

Over the past weeks, we have been getting to know our students better as learners. This is done through classroom conversations, informal observations, and also through the use of assessments. This year our district is using an online adaptive assessment called iReady. This assessment was administered to all students kindergarten through fifth grade. We will use all of this information to inform our instructional practices to support all of our learners. Over the next few weeks, our staff will meet to discuss this data and plan for the upcoming months and create our school improvement plan.

Pick-up Line during dismissal reminders

In order to facilitate an efficient and safe student dismissal at the end of the day, please observe the following guidelines:

  • Please do not get out of your car, if you are picking up in the car line. Classroom teachers are watching the students until all are safely in their guardians' vehicles.
  • Please remain in the line until you have picked up your child and when pulling out please exercise extra caution.
  • Please pull up in an orderly fashion. When you are near the north door, your child will be allowed to go to your car. Your child will not be allowed to walk to 6th street or cross Illinois.
  • Please be patient and pull out as the car in front of you pulls out. If you have an emergency and can't pull out, please pull forward at least until you are past the small playground and turn on your hazards so those behind you know it is safe to go around you.

If we all follow these guidelines, dismissal will be quick, painless, and safe for all concerned. Thank you!

Our D303 Teaching Staff desire to partner with parents in their child’s education. This year we have moved our scheduled Conference Days up to allow for reflection on each student’s current academic and social levels and to create goals together for this year’s learning. Conferences will occur on October 8th from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm and October 9th from 8:00 am – 12:00noon. Parents will be able to schedule conferences online through Pick-A-Time in HAC beginning on Monday, September 21st

The Parent-Teacher Conference Scheduler will open up in HAC on Monday, September 21, 2020, at 7:00 a.m. and close on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. Please see the attached instructions on how to sign up for conferences in your student's HAC account.

If you experience any difficulties logging into HAC or have forgotten your password, feel free to email Debbie Fick at

Special education teachers will be joining the classroom teacher in your conferences. If there is a conflict with two students scheduled for the same time in different classrooms, the special education teacher will reach out to you to find a time that works for you both.

Specials teachers are available for conferences, too. If parents desire to meet with their child’s art, music, or pe teacher, they just need to email them directly.

From the Secretary

This is just a reminder to label all of your children’s belongings (hoodies, coats, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc). We have already had some items turned in to the Lost & Found with no names on them. If these items are labeled, we can bring them back to your student’s class.

It is recommended that you call the attendance line by 7:30 am each day that your child will be absent. Our Attendance Hotline is available 24/7 for your convenience. This applies to both IN-PERSON and REMOTE students.

Certification-Reminder--Please do early

Certification for your student is a 2-step process:

Please remember each morning to complete the Parent Self Certification form for all of your children - D303 Parent Self Certification Form

(1) complete the on-line certification by 7:30 am each morning prior to your student coming to school

(2) after you complete the on-line certification, make sure you initial the tag that is on your child’s backpack.

We cannot let your student into the building until this online certification has been completed. Thank you for your help with this!
