Intermediate School Weekly Update
Update for the week of May 26 - May 29
Weekly Update For Intermediate Families For May 26 - May 29
I truly hope that all of our Intermediate School families had an opportunity to enjoy the wonderful weather this Memorial Day weekend. Memorial Day is always an opportunity to reflect on those who have served and sacrificed for our country, but this year this recognition is even more important. I want to express a heartfelt thank-you to those who have served our country in the armed forces and on the front lines of our battle with the COVID-19 virus.
As an educator, Memorial Day has always marked the beginning of the "home stretch" for students and staff members. I have a number of important updates in this week's newsletter regarding the end of the school year.
Updates for this week:
Monday, 6/15 - Wednesday: Students will have the opportunity to complete owed assignments during this week.
Tuesday, 6/16 - Virtual Fun Activities Day - We recognize that our students are losing our Olympic Day this year due to the building closure. While nothing can replace the annual fun of Olympic Day, Intermediate Staff members are working on creating some fun, virtual activities for Tuesday, June 16. WE will share more information on this with students and parents as we get closer to this date.
Wednesday, 6/17 - End-Of-The-Year Awards - Virtual Streaming - We will be streaming our annual year-end awards ceremony on Wednesday, June 17. The exact time and details for the streaming awards ceremony will be shared closer to this event. Any award certificate that a student earns in the ceremony will be mailed to students after the ceremony.
Dates & Plan for Picking-up Student Belongings and Collecting District Materials (Text books, etc.): We plan to distribute student belongings and collect any texts, etc. that are being returned to the school in a manner similar to the way we distributed chrome books. We are going to ask that parents drive around to the back of the school and pull up to the door by the Intermediate cafeteria. You will not have to enter the building. Instead, a staff member will walk out the bags of student belongings to the car and accept any texts, etc. that students are returning. Students will not return their chrome books- we are allowing students to keep their chrome books for the summer. Student belongings (including anything left in the classroom, PE locker, or hall locker) will be returned to you in clear garbage bags. they are handing-in. We will use the following times to return 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM each of the three days listed below. In order to keep the numbers manageable and to prevent long lines for cars, we are gong to divide student body into thirds based on family the students last name. We will be doing this alphabetically using the following break-down:
Monday, June 15 - Last names that begin with letters A-H
Tuesday, June 16 - Last names that begin with letters I - Q
Wednesday, June 17 - Last names that begin with letters R - Z
