Welcome to Week Six
Rational Expressions (MA107)
Weekly Content - Rational Expressions
In our previous discussion of polynomials, we talked about adding, subtracting and multiplying them but you may have noticed that we quietly took a pass on division. This week, we're going to come back to that operation. There are some special considerations that we'll see that make it appropriate to give this material its own section.
Class Notes - Preparing for the End of Class
At this point, we're coming into the class' home stretch. Please take a look at the grade book and think about where you want to be when the class ends and what you need to do to get there. There will be no extra credit offered this session; final grades will be based strictly on the grades earned on the quizzes and discussions.
This is a good time to start thinking about a schedule for reviewing the material going into the final exam. You may need to allocate some additional time over the next two weeks to make sure that you're prepared. If you have any questions, including questions about material from previous weeks, please post them in the discussion board and I'll be glad to go over them.
This would also be a good time to try accessing the tutoring resources available from your home campus. They can be an excellent resource for reviewing older material. Of course, you can also contact me during my office hours as well.
Please keep in mind that there won't be any extra credit available this session. All grades will be based strictly on the assignments listed in the grade book.

Technical Issues
If you're having technical issues with Blackboard, e.g. uploading files, downloading files or viewing the grade book, you should contact the Herzing University Helpdesk. I'll be glad to answer any questions you have about the course's content but faculty don't have the training or access to do any kind of tech support.
Contacting Me
There are a number of ways for you to reach me during this course:
- E-mail: gallen@herzing.edu
- Skype: prof.gregory.allen
Office Hours
I will have three virtual office hours for each week of the course, with time allocated during the week to focus on the assignments and their due dates. I'll be available every Tuesday from 8:00 - 10:00 AM ET, Tuesday from 8:00 - 9:00 PM ET and Thursday from 8:00 - 10:00 PM ET.
Outside of those hours, Skype is the best way to get a hold of me. I'm usually online working in the afternoon and early evening so those are great times to get a hold of me if you have a quick question on a problem or assignment.
