eLearning Update
January 2022 - Delta College
Knowmia to YuJa Migration is COMPLETE!
To access your previous Knowmia content, sign in to your YuJa Dashboard --> Default Collection folder --> username@delta.edu folder. Please submit a help desk ticket if you are unable to locate this folder and had content in Knowmia previously.
You will still have access to existing Knowmia content through spring/summer semester. After this, the Knowmia site will be shut down and existing links to content will not work. Once your videos have been transferred, please work on updating links in D2L to be YuJa links.
Please note that switching links in your course mid semester can potentially mess up analytic and grading data.

Teaching Tip
Building Relationships
Building relationships with students is a proven to be a driving force in their success.
How many minutes do you think it would take you to learn the names of every student in your class plus one thing about them? How do you think that would impact the learner's motivation for the rest of the semester? Not only is it important for the instructor to know student names, it's also important for students to know each other as it creates a sense of belonging and removes feelings of isolation.
Here are some strategies to get to know students in your classes.
- Play Spectrum: Have students move closer or further to a set point based on how much they like a topic (animals, tiktok, math, riding a bike, etc.)
- Play Never Have I Ever: Players have to do an action if they have had the experience.
- Do Pencil Yoga: Two players hold a single pencil by the ends with their finger and move it all around
- Have a Cafe Conversation discussion board where students can post about non-course related material.
- Introduce your partner
- Make a Human Billboard: Use pictures and words to describe yourself on a billboard, then put it over your head and walk around the room for introductions.
- Create a N.A.M.E. acrostic: write a word that describes an interest/hobby for each letter of your name and share
