How is screencasting being used in the SLLC?
In developing the SLLC blended French courses, Mel Scullen created mini vocabulary and grammar lessons using Camtasia software. This allowed her to provide students with introduction or reinforcement of the grammar topics that would be utilized in class. Inspired by the use of screencasts in French, Kumiko Akikawa in Japanese also produced videos in her blended Japanese course and Cecile Ruel has been producing narrated videos for the blended French 204 course.
How else can screen casts be used in a language or literature course? (Examples are linked below)
- Create a video intro of how your course or module is organized
- Reinforce a grammar or vocab topic
- Demonstrate how to complete a task online
- Give verbal feedback on a writing assignment
- Personalize your blended or online course
- Allow students to use to narrate a story or problem, comment on a news article or image online and upload to ELMS.
