Clothes Closet Needs
We have a clothes closet at Sevier for students to use if they need to change clothes or if they are in need of clothes. We encourage students to keep what we give them when they come to the clothes closet. We are in desperate need of boys shoes, especially size 10 and up.
We also need new girl underwear (we go through a lot), girls leggings (small and medium sizes), boys shorts-all sizes. If you are ever cleaning out your closets and need somehwere to take the old clothes, please think of us! We appreciate and rely on donations!
Thank you!

Monday Data Response Collaborative
Hello All,
As we prepare for the final stretch before TN READY, it is important that we are focused and purposeful in how we respond to our benchmark data. As we use this knowledge to plan instruction, we need to be as deliberate as possible about the decisions we make to reteach the most frequently missed questions to entire groups of students. We also need to be intentional as we target specific groups who are below proficient, who are on the bubble just below and above proficiency and who are advanced. We need to intentionally target student groups with the areas where we know they need support (item analysis-- Click Here for Item Analysis).
Throughout this year, we have built out knowledge of students using last year’s TN Ready Data (gains and losses) and we used that data to target students who had the potential for the most growth and those who were capable of the greatest losses. Each of you have a data spreadsheet in the JSMS Google Drive 2019-2020 Data Files, then in Holly’s Data Files for Teachers. Click Here For Personal Data Spreadsheet That is where we placed the TN Ready Data for each of your current students from last year and that is where you have been inputting your Benchmark A and B Scores. (That is ALSO where you logged where your current students are PROJECTED to be this year on their TN Ready during our Monday Faculty Meeting). The second tab on the spreadsheet is where you targeted students for focus in the fall who had the potential to make the most gains and the most losses and you made plans to support those students by indicating that on the spreadsheet.
We will use this data in our Monday Collaborative Meeting with our InDeS to individually and corporately share our student data and specifically look at the following:
· How each student is performing comparing student projections (what we added in our faculty meeting on Monday) to their most recent benchmark score. This will help us see how our students have grown in relation to their projection.
· Check Growth Spreadsheets to check in on the students and supports that you planned for targets students last fall.
· Review plans for the upcoming four weeks that will include:
o Whole group reviews of skills most frequently missed (item analysis)
o Targeted small group support (item analysis) and identify when this will occur
o Review Math and Literacy Blast attendance sheets-Use Item Analysis to identify what skills need to be retaught during Math/Literacy Blast specific to this year’s groups
o Review who has signed up for Math/Literacy Blast. Do we have any other students who we think will benefit from attending our Blast who may have scored a 2 Click Here for Math and Literacy Blast Lists

APPLICATION TO PRESENT AT THE 2020 NISWONGER FOUNDATION SCHOOL SUCCESS SYMPOSIUM
When Where Dear Educator, We are sending you an invitation to apply as a presenter for the Niswonger Foundation 2020 School Success Symposium. This year's topic is centered around, how to reach at risk students, at all grade levels, to be successful in the classroom and in life. Students face challenges that they often do not believe they can face alone: hopelessness, shame, disability, tragic home life, summed up as the trauma, drama, and pain of life. Plan to present your practice of teaching and reaching young people in your classroom/school. How are you making that difference in the lives of the children within your sphere of influence so that they continue their education and attain their life goals? Share your successes as an educator to inspire and renew other educators for the 2020-21 school year. This application is a commitment that your team will present. It is a great idea to have a team presentation, that way, if one person has an emergency, the rest of the team will proceed with the presentation. The presentation time is 50 minutes and the presentation will be given twice during the day to approximately 35-40 participants each session. Applications are due to vivian.franklin@niswongerfoundation.org by Monday, April 20, 2020.

Human Trafficking Training
All district counselors, SAPs, SROs and nurses are receiving this training but it is also open to teachers, admin and staff. The more people in our community who are aware and educated the better! Great info professionally and as a community member! This PD time can also be used towards the in-service day in May. More info below and a link to fill out for those planning to attend. Hope to see you there!
Date: Friday, March 13th in-service day
Time: 8-9:30 am
Location: Johns Sevier Middle School Aud.
If you plan to attend please fill this link out: https://forms.gle/8w4aYoV1CrewLmPL7
Details: Natalie Ivey, executive director of Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking, will be presenting PD on human trafficking that is occurring in our community, misconceptions, how to identify individuals who are being trafficked or at-risk, what to do, long-term effects, and resources available. Natalie began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in the 13th Judicial District prosecuting crimes of domestic and sexual violence. She has been the executive director of victim service agencies and led the anti-trafficking task force in Knoxville. KCS is likely the first district in TN to have so many staff trained in this area! Training will begin at 8 am sharp since many of us have other meetings to attend. We are thrilled about your attendance since school personal are likely the ones to notice red flags or have students disclose information to. This is a tough topic but Natalie does a great job educating community members professionally while giving space for the sensitivity of the topic. We'd LOVE to have you! If you have further questions please email - Lking@k12k.com

Homeless Education Survey
We have opened the annual Homeless Education Program survey, the collection of information necessary for Michele Wilder to ensure compliance with federal laws and ensure our students are receiving all of the services for which they are entitled. Please distribute to your staff for their attention and completion, including individuals such as bus drivers and custodial staff, as they may have information about a change in a child’s living situation. The survey will remain open through Friday, March 13, 2020. Here is a link to the online survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8LG36VC
Also attached is the form that should be utilized should you have staff that do not have students to refer. As in previous years, please make this available for them to sign if necessary in lieu of completing the online survey.

Coffee Cart-Feel Good Friday
Feel Good Friday just keeps getting better! Stephen Baker had the awesome idea to start up a coffee cart for the Warrior Academy kiddos and the FA-3 kiddos to run together on Friday mornings. The cost will be $1.00 per cup, and we have creamers and sweeteners as well!
The funds will just replenish the cart from week to week, but the personal interaction and functional skills the kids are going to learn from this will be invaluable! I am looking forward to watching them grow throughout the year and build relationships with you all through this venture!
I have included the Google Sheet that we will use each week to fill orders. There is a cell for your name, classroom number for 1st period assignments, type of drink, and if you need a disposable cup, or if you'll have your own mug for us to make it in!
Thank you all in advance for your support of this fun idea, and to Baker for getting it all together. I love our big Warrior Tribe!
Thanks again!
Baker and Megan
