Spring Break . Day 2
Staff Meeting on Zoom!
Today all of Aquin teachers met for a 1 hour meeting on Zoom . . . and it lasted 2 hours. Why?
Because all of them care about the education of their Puppies, DAWGS and Jays!
An email will be coming from the Superintendent regarding the points discussed and decisions made. But here's a little overview of their observations, concerns and interactions of how our first week of e-learning went at Aquin!
From Our Awesome Teachers . . .
- Many are starting their 'live' classes early so the students have an opportunity to talk among themselves, just like they would in the halls and classrooms between bells.
- This social time is as good for the students as it is for the teachers.
- Every day has been about change and it's uncomfortable for all of us.
- Teachers aren't looking for perfection from their students. They're looking for participation and effort.
- There is a 'master' schedule that teachers at the High School campus are using so that they don't overlap 'live' session times with other classes.
- Some students were overwhelmed with the amount of emails they received from teachers.
- Schoolwork and projects aren't going to be perfect and that is absolutely fine.
- They all miss their 'Little and Big DAWGS' as much as the 'Littles and Bigs' miss them!
We're All In This Together . . .
We also reminded each other that we are not the only schools, teachers, students, and parents going through these struggles. The following information comes from Tacoma Schools in Tacoma, WA. Hopefully these coping methods will help you along the journey of change as well . . .
When the kids in our life are struggling, they often express it through their behavior rather than their words. You may have seen some of those behaviors already. Take a look at these ideas - shared by Mary Bridge Children's Hospital - on how you can help the kids in your life make their way through a time filled with uncertainty and even fear.
