Sprague School

A sensory table is a great way for kindergartners to learn how to independently explore the world around them, problem-solve, develop creativity, and refine conversational skills. Thanks to the PTO's Links to Learning Grant, the kindergarten team now has one. Sensory tables demand fine motor skills as students have to use their hands to interact with objects. They'll play with whatever is on the table. They will handle balls, pour sand, and grasp spoons. Children learn through their senses. Sensory tables improve children's sense of touch, which helps them perceive their environment accurately. Exposure to a variety of textures improves children's development of fine motor skills. The tables can also help to develop social skills, emotional regulation, and manage classroom behaviors. Sensory tools are also very helpful for improving focus and attention.

All grades are invited for a night of fun playing games with your child! This event will take place inside Sprague School with a variety of table top and movement games to play together. Students will earn prizes for their participation with their parents or guardians. This is a fun opportunity to practice and model social and collaborative skills. Please register for the free event. If you would like your child to attend Camp 103 Club, please register using the RevTrak Web Store for the waiting list and we will contact you and let you know if there is a spot for your child. The creation of classes is an important process for our students where staff collectively looks at the needs of individuals, groups, the balance of academics, and social-emotional needs, to create healthy learning groups and environments.

If you wish to share information on your child, please fill out the Optional Home Input Form. The input you provide will be reviewed and considered as we begin planning for your child's upcoming school year. While specific teacher requests cannot be accommodated, your insight is valued. We look forward to providing your child with continued learning excellence. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with your child's team.

Please note, the input you share is not private between the Principal and parent and will be shared with our team during the placement process. Please do not request specific teachers. Any response form that lists a specific teacher will not be included in the placement process. Please complete a form for each of your children, if desired. This form needs to be completed by Friday, April 14.

Parents' Night Out is a new fundraiser that provides an opportunity for parents in our community to enjoy an evening of food, drinks, and stand-up comedy while raising funds for a good cause! The event will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Estonian House, Riverwoods.

We are currently seeking items for a silent auction to be held online and at the event. If you or someone you know would be kind enough to donate an item such as gift baskets, local experiences, or gift cards from local or national business please contact president@d103pto.org. Proceeds from the auction will fund the Links to Learning and Extra for Extracurricular grant programs.

It’s hard to believe another school year is almost over. So, it’s time for our favorite celebration of the year…..Teacher Appreciation Week! The TAW team has been busy planning and organizing ways to show our appreciation. Now, we need your help to make it all happen.

During the week of May 1-5, we will be spoiling our teachers with treats, supplies, lunch, and a gift card drawing! Be sure to look at our weekly schedule to learn about the details of each day.

You might be wondering how you can help? We have two ways to get involved. One option is to check out our Sign Up on the Membership Toolkit and sign up to purchase an item or two. Donated items should be dropped at the respective school by Friday, April 28. Don’t have time to go shopping but still want to help? No worries. Come join us Saturday, May 20, for the Run for D103 5k! This family-friendly annual fundraising event enables the PTO to provide D103 with programs and equipment for the benefit of our students. Signs are available for Sprague, Half Day, or Daniel Wright. You can purchase these beautiful signs to proudly display in your front yard. But don't wait too long, as orders must be placed by Thursday, April 20, at 11:59 p.m. to ensure delivery.

On March 24, Sprague students enjoyed the Spring Carnival! Students rotated between crafts, a photo booth, and carnival-type games facilitated by many parent volunteers. What a great time for our students to enjoy the day with their classmates and peers!

We need your help in raising awareness about National Child Abuse Prevention Month! Participate in the Lincolnshire Police Department PSA Contest for your chance to win a ride to school with an officer, private Police Department tour, or private touch-a-truck experience. Join us in pulling back the curtain, learning how your local government serves you, and meeting the fun side of our amazing Village staff members! Regardless of your age, race, gender, citizenship, or length of residency, we want to meet all people, hear all voices, and learn from all walks of life in order to better serve and engage with the entire Lincolnshire community. The Riverside Foundation is a not-for-profit community based organization serving adults with moderate-to-severe intellectual and developmental disabilities. The foundation provides a home and support services for more than 500 adults at the campus located along the Des Plaines river in Lincolnshire. The Riverside Foundation is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)3 charitable organization that is dependent upon donations and fundraising efforts from the community. One of this year’s fundraisers is the Kentucky Derby Gala on Saturday May 6, at the Marriott Resort in Lincolnshire.
