Home & School Board Meeting - Monday, October 7th
We hope everyone enjoyed the recent Home & School Potluck Dinner, and we have more fun events planned.
Did you know we plan events such as Mom's Night Out and Junior High Dances, set up fundraisers such as tonight's Spring Creek Barbecue dinner, and try to spoil our teachers with Faculty Lunches like last week's catered lunch from Campisi's?
What would you like to see us do? We need your ideas and help planning and coordinating.
Come turn your best ideas into reality by joining the Home & School Board. Pick your area of interest - Social Activities? Fundraisers? Teacher Appreciation? - and join others in making this year fun for students, teachers, and parents!
Our next meeting is Monday, October 7th at 6:00 PM in the school library. Everyone is welcome to come and see what opportunities we have available. No commitment required - just check us out. We'd love to see you there!

Pre-K and the Maker Space Classroom
How do our pre-K students learn best? The answer to that question can clearly be seen in our Maker Space Classroom, where a rich environment stimulates brain development and creative thinking - exactly what our youngest students need to become bright, successful, productive world citizens.
Mrs. Baldock or Mrs. Kenyon take our Pre-K students weekly to the Maker Space Classroom, and had this to say: "During enrichment in the Maker Space Classroom, we first listen to a story. Afterwards, we work together to build all sorts of things using manipulatives such as blocks, linking cubes, pattern blocks, and plastic cups. We are the architects, engineers, technicians, and mediators of the future! We love our new STEAM classroom! Thank you to all the parents who worked so hard to make it happen!"
Cheryl D'Ostrophe - PreK3
Ms. D’Ostroph grew up in Northeastern Ohio and graduated from the University of Akron. She has lived in Rockwall for the past several years. She has 2 grown children with whom she loves spending time.
She enjoys reading, gardening, relaxing on her patio, and walking her dog “Buddy” along the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard while taking in the beautiful sunsets!
“I’ve had the pleasure of working here at SBS for 17 years. It’s very exciting to take part in the beginning of a child’s educational journey! I enjoy providing the children with age-appropriate, multi-sensory experiences to help them develop academically, socially, creatively, emotionally, and spiritually. I feel blessed to be a part of this wonderful school community!”
FUN FACTS:
What is your dream vacation? And who would you take with you?
My dream vacation would be a trip to Hawaii with my children.
What famous person would you like to meet some day?
I would like to meet Michelle Obama. I think she's an inspiration. She's a good role model, she carries herself with grace, and she cares a great deal about others and making their lives better.
Week 7
Students had a surprise last Tuesday, with the teachers putting on a three episode skit about faith, bringing lots of laughter while pointing out ways in which faith enters our daily life. Moms had their own entertainment Tuesday night at Smoky Rose, while teachers enjoyed a catered lunch from Campisi's on Thursday. Thursday also saw the commissioning of our teachers at Mass, as well as the presentation of a Christian Witness Award to one student in each class for living the virtue of faith. We are very proud of all the winners! The weekend started early with a half day so students and teachers could enjoy the Fair - and many of them certainly did. Yesterday, our 8th graders visited Bishop Lynch, as they continue evaluating Catholic high schools in the area before making their final decisions.
