Descison Making Process & Steps

Step 1) Identify the decision that needs to be made.
Look at the problem or decision you have to make and think about it.
Step 2) List all possible alternatives.
Look at all of your choices in the decision.
Step 3) Choose best alternative.
Choose the best decision that you believe will be best.
Step 4) Act on the decision.
Carry out the decision and don't back down from it.
Step 5) Evaluate the decision.
Look at the outcome of your decision and think about if you made the right decision.

Minor Decisions

-what to wear
-what to eat for breakfast
-what to do with your hair
-what pencil to use at school
-what to pack for lunch
-whether to chew gum or not
-to bring device to school or not
-to be on my phone
-to drink water or milk
-when to do homework

Major Decisions

-what college to go to
-whether to study for a big test or not
-choosing what sports to do in high school
-what job to work when older
-what to study in college

Short Term Goal

Definition: Something you want to do in the near future. The near future can mean today, this week, this month, or even this year.

EX: What to eat for dinner.

Long Term Goal

Definition: Goals that take a long time to achieve or accomplish.

EX: What college to get into.
