George School's Family Update

Return to Outside Morning Line Up!

Now that the weather is turning nicer (finally), we will be returning to outside line up beginning Monday, April 30th! (Including Kindergarten) Of course, in the case of inclement weather, we will have a Red Flag Drop Off and you will be notified via email, Twitter and of course, by putting the Red Flag Outside. I can't thank the parent volunteers enough for all their help in the morning with our extended Red Flag drop off. It was a pleasure working with you.

Spring Advice from our School Nurse Mrs. Charlene Alessi

Spring is the time of year when temperatures can flip-flop 20 to 30 degrees in one day. Dressing for the spring weather can be a challenge but with the right layers, your child will feel warm in the morning and comfortable in the warmer afternoon. Appropriate shoes or sneakers are the best footwear for your child at school. It’s all about safety, sandals and flip flops provide little if any support or protection to the foot. School nurses often report this type of footwear is worn when reporting accidents. Please remember, all footwear needs to be appropriate for participation in outside play and physical education.

George School Celebrates Autism Awareness!

The American Autism Association defines Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as a developmental disorder that causes issues with communication, social, verbal, and motor skills. The most important thing to know about autism is that it is a spectrum disorder, meaning its effects vary from person to person. We celebrated Autism Awareness Month at George School! Faculty, staff and students wore blue this past Monday and books were read in many classes throughout the month promoting understanding and acceptance. We are proud to have our Connect Program classes at George School and to integrate the students into our general education classrooms. It is very exciting to see the progress all Connect Program students have made this school year! At George School we have learned that each student is unique and that their diversity brings richness to our school community.
