We are excited to welcome students back to school on Tuesday, September 4, 2018! For students attending Maggie Walker Regional Governor's School and CodeRVA, bus transportation information is below.
Bus Information
- 6:20 a.m. Bus Begins Picking Up Students (Please Be at Your Stops By 6:15 a.m.)
- 7:00 Bus Travels to Dance's Sporting Goods
- 7:15 Prince George Bus Departs for Richmond

Bus Safety Information
Transportation
Student safety is a priority for Petersburg City Public Schools. The school system has practices in place to keep students safe as they go to school in the morning and as they are returned to their families in the afternoon. Parents/guardians are responsible for the safety of their children to and from bus stops.
Bus safety rules and expectations
At the bus stop
- Arrive at the assigned stop five minutes before pickup time
- Stand on the sidewalk or the edge of the street by the curb
- Stay off private property
- Stand on the non-traveled part of the road
- Be respectful of and watchful for traffic
- Wait quietly and orderly
When the bus arrives
- Allow the bus to come to a complete stop
- Board the bus in a quiet and orderly manner
On the bus
- Respect the bus driver and bus assistant and follow their directions
- Remain seated
- Practice orderly conduct
- No profanity or obscene behavior
- No smoking, eating or drinking
- No vandalism
- No body parts outside the bus windows
- No radios, tapes or electronic audio or video device
- No live animals
- No unsafe objects or weapons
- No throwing items from the bus or on the bus
- No gambling
- No bullying
Leaving the bus
- Remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop
- Exit at the assigned bus stop and in an orderly manner
- Cross in front of the bus
Bus Stops
Students must get on and off the bus at their assigned stops. In emergency situations, a student may ride a different bus than the one assigned.
Conduct
The standards of student conduct apply at bus stops and on buses. Student misbehavior will not be tolerated and may result in the student being denied transportation via school bus. If a student is suspended from riding the bus, then the parent/guardian is responsible for transporting the student to and from school.
