Reminder--Registration for the 2015 PSATs
Please note an important change regarding the PSATs for the 2015 school year. The College Board is only offering the administration of the PSAT on Wednesday, October 14, 2015; there is no Saturday administration of the test, as in past years. In response to this change, CB West will be administering these exams between 7:25 and 11:10 AM. Only juniors and sophomores who wish to register for the PSAT should do so by visiting www.mypaymentsplus.com. Please follow the directions to set up a free account. You will need your student’s ID number to complete registration. Student ID numbers may be found on Parent Portal. Once you’ve created the account for your student, you may sign up for the CB West PSAT Registration. The cost is $16.00 and the deadline for registration is October 2nd, 2015. If you missed the registration deadline, please contact Mrs. Lisa Corr in the Guidance Office lcorr@cbsd.org. There is no guarantee of test availability for late registrants, but we will do our best to accommodate late registrants until we run out of testing materials. We strongly encourage juniors and sophomores to take the PSAT; however, it is not mandatory that they do so.
Please Note the Schedule for Wednesday, October 14
7:25--11:10: PSATs for any sophomore or junior who has registered for the test*. Seniors, juniors, and sophomores not registered for the PSAT on October 14th have the option of arriving to school at 7:25 AM and reporting to Study Hall in the Cafeteria, OR reporting to school at 11:15 AM, in which case, they must provide their own transportation. At 11:15 AM, the regular school day will resume, beginning with Block 3.
11:15--12:55: 3rd block classes & lunches
1:00--2:30: 4th block as regularly scheduled
*See article on test registration above. We strongly encourage juniors and sophomores to take the PSAT; however, it is not mandatory that they do so.
AM senior, junior, and sophomore MBIT students who are not testing will report to MBIT per normal schedule. PM MBIT students will report to MBIT as regularly scheduled; however, the bus transporting PM students to MBIT will depart CB West at 11:40 so that students have time to eat lunch at CB West.
CB West Journalism Class Explores the Role of Journalists in the Digital Society
Mrs. Waldron's Journalism class has been exploring the question, “What is the role of a journalist in today’s digital society?” by talking to several professionals in the field. They have had classes with Jennifer Lin, former reporter and columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer; Ed Kracz, sports reporter and columnist for The Intelligencer; and John Moore, music critic for publications such as Blurt and Rolling Stone. The students also visited The Intelligencer offices where Amy Gianficaro gave students a tour and introduced them to reporters.
Clearance Information for Volunteers
Volunteers must have their clearances on file with the CBSD Human Resources Department prior to starting volunteer work. The new Pennsylvania State mandate does allow until July 1, 2016 to obtain background checks. However, in the best interest of the safety and security of our students, we are asking volunteers to comply with submitting background checks prior to volunteering in the 2015-2016 school year.

If you have already submitted paperwork you do not need to take any further action at this time.
This online process is ONLY for those who have not submitted clearances / certifications as of October 1, 2015.

CB West Sporting News--Week of 9/28/15
Football- The boys had their first win of the season in an exciting overtime game against Norristown last Friday. The boys are poised for their match-up with Truman on Friday, October 2.
Field Hockey- After getting rained out on Tuesday night, the girls were well rested and battled through the rain to defeat Quakertown 3-0. Mother nature was a tough opponent this week but our girls continued to roll towards victory.
Boys Soccer- After a disappointing loss to district rival CB South on Tuesday, the boys bounced back with a 4-0 win against Quakertown on senior night.
Girls Soccer- The team battled the elements this week in both contests. The girls are scheduled for a series of games this weekend that may need to be moved due to the approaching storms. Stay tuned for any changes.
Golf- The team is very excited to be sending two representatives to the play-offs this year.
Tennis- After rain washed away our final team match of the season, the girls are excited to send their team representatives to the league championships this weekend.
Boys Cross Country- The boys were again winners at their second invitational in two weeks. They also pulled a nice win over CB East and CB South in their tri-match this week. The boys are now ranked 4th in the Northeast region of the US. Keep up the great work!
Girls Cross Country-The girls enjoyed a week off from invitationals and it paid off! The girls were able to pick up a nice win against CB East and CB South in their tri-match this week.
Ladies Volleyball– The girls picked up two 3-0 wins over CB South and Quakertown this week. The girls found new energy after a tough week last week! Let’s wish them well as they host Upper Dublin and Christopher Dock this Saturday, October 3 at CB West.
Cheer- The girls continue to prepare for both football games and their own competition season. Be on the lookout for more information on their upcoming cheer clinic. Keep up the great work ladies!

CB West Boys Cross Country Team Recongized for their Efforts at the 9/11 Heroes Run
Mr. Ken Bauer, Group Volunteer Organizer, recently recognized the CB West Boys Cross Country team for their volunteer efforts at the 9/11 Heroes Run. Twenty-one members of the team served as marshals on the course. Without the help of student and community volunteers, worthwhile events such as the 9/11 Heroes Run would be difficult to organize. Mr. Bauer gave special recognition to Junior Brian Mass who has served on the race committee for over a year. Great job, boys, and thanks to the many CB West students who volunteered to help with this event.
