Hembree Highlights
October 9, 2020
Note from Mrs. Smith
A long weekend is calling our names, but I am so excited about getting back to having all of our students in the building. I feel like I have been sharing that message for weeks on end, and it is finally here. We are so excited to have students here on a consistent basis.
Some things to remember:
1) Your child will be "first week of school" tired next week as they have not been doing this face to face regularly day in and day out for about 6 months. They may need a bed time that is a little earlier as their body adjusts to school.
2) Allow for extra time in morning carpool. We have not been at full capacity. We have had higher numbers of students in carpool for phases 1-4.
3) Students will need all their "normal" school supplies. Your child may bring their personal device until we redistribute our devices from Kindergarten and First grades to our Second through Fifth grade students.
4) If you have questions or concerns, your child's teacher will always be the best first start. They often have detailed knowledge of routines for their classroom.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Stay Strong! Stay Positive! Stay Well!
Sincerely,
AJ Smith

Complete the School of Excellence Survey for a chance to win a $50 Publix gift card!
Please fill out the enclosed survey (link below), to be entered for a chance to win a $50 Publix gift card. This survey is a part of the School of Excellence process which, if successful, will allow us to both win a recognition for our school and opens up grant opportunities.
We need your help! As part of the process, National PTA requests feedback from families, administrators and teachers at two points in the school year—the beginning and the end. Your feedback will help us improve our family-school partnership and achieve excellence.
Please take 5-10 minutes to reflect on your experience at this school and complete the attached survey. Mark an “X” in the box that most accurately expresses how you feel about your experience. This survey is completely anonymous. Please return this survey to us by responding to the google forms link by October 12, 2020.

· Students attending school face-to-face will continue to receive free meals during their school’s scheduled mealtimes. Nutritious and delicious student favorites will be provided at breakfast and lunch. At breakfast this includes one entrée, one fruit, one juice, and/or milk. At lunch this includes, one entrée, two vegetables, one fruit, and/or milk.
· Meals will be accounted for using a variety of non-contact cashiering methods.
· Limited extra sale items will be available. Families are encouraged to load funds to their student’s meal account through MyPaymentsPlus. Student Meal Barcodes or Student Meal Cards will be used to purchase extra sale items.
· Meal Kits will still be available for virtual learners & community members at 93 Curbside Pick-Up locations on Wednesdays. Curbside Pick-Up provides an opportunity for families to drive-thru and pick up free grab & go meal kits for all children 18 & under. To maximize social distancing, drivers are not to leave their vehicles; however, walk-ups are allowed.
· Even though all students will temporarily receive free meals, households are strongly encouraged to complete a Free & Reduced Meal Application. Once the extension of USDA waivers expires, students will be charged for their meals based on their meal eligibility status (free, reduced, or full pay). If there is an interruption in benefits or the household does not reapply, the household is responsible for payment of meals until the application is approved.
· A new application must be completed every school year. Visit www.fulton.schoollunchapp.com to begin the online Free & Reduced Meal application.
