PTA News
We Want YOU! PTA Board Members for 2019-2020!
Want to get more involved at Trillium Creek? Take on a different volunteer role? Be creative and make a difference in your child’s school? TCPS PTA has THE opportunity for you! Every year we vote in a PTA Board- President, Vice President(s), Treasurer(s), Secretary, and Advisor. We will have returning Board Members, but are in need of a Treasurer, and a Secretary as these Board Members’ 2-year terms have, sadly, come to an end. Please contact PTA President, Christy Riehm, or any other Board Member to get more information. We are not your stereotypical PTA Board, we are not scary, and we actually get along and have fun! We have a lot of cool ideas for next year and want you to be a part of it! A conversation does not equal a commitment so feel free to just inquire. Thank you for considering to serve!

News From Our Office Staff
Days like yesterday, thankfully, don't occur too often! When they do, we absolutely understand that some kids will be late to school. None of the kids yesterday who arrived by 8 am were marked tardy even though we gave them late slips.
The reason we give out late slips and take students names at the door every day is because many teachers take attendance during the morning meeting time. School starts at 7:50 am which is the time morning meeting ends (most days).
The late slips tell teachers that the student checked in with the office, and having names on a list allows us to update a teacher's entry in the system if they marked a student absent who then arrived late. Teachers are unable to change their entries, so we have to do it for them.
Without a cross-check system, parents whose students arrive late and are marked absent by teachers would get an automatic phone call, asking why the student is absent, when in reality the student is really in our building. We like to try our best to prevent those sorts of calls to parents!

Oregon Assessment Information for 2018-2019
Please see the attached information if you want to know more about Oregon's 2018-2019 English Language Arts and Mathematics Assessments and for the form for opting out of assessments. The form is attached to the bottom of the Tweet.
For all other statewide assessments (OSAS Online Science, ELPA Summative, the Kindergarten Assessment, and the ORExt Science Assessment), parents may request that their student be exempted from state testing based on either disability or religion. OAR 581-022-1910 allows school districts to excuse students from a state required program or learning activity, including state testing, to accommodate a student’s disabilities or religious beliefs. In order for a school district to excuse a student from testing under this rule, the student’s parent must submit a written request to the school district, listing the reasons for the request and proposing an alternative individualized learning activity for the student that meets the same goals that would be accomplished by participation in state testing.
