And we're off......

I sincerely hope you have had a great first week!

I wanted to let you know that your PTO is already hard at work. I hope you saw our post on Facebook and Twitter this week. Our beautification committee, Sally Bartlett and Mina Patel were busy on Monday putting out "Welcome Back" signs for our teachers and staff. In case you missed it, see the pictures below. And make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter!

Sally along with Jenn Winchock also restocked the faculty lounge last week, so our teachers and staff have fresh coffee, water, plates and utensils to start the new year. Thanks to the Winchock family for donating the soda!

Annie Qureshi has been working to plan our upcoming bookfair. See more information below.

Don't forget to join the PTO to help us create lasting memories for our Bears. Membership is purchased annually. Fees to join are $10 for families and teachers, and $5 for BGS Aides. Membership grants you free electronic access to our Student Directory. This is especially important now as we try to schedule virtual playdates and have the children connect with other children in their classes outside of the google class meets. You can purchase membership via our AtoZ Connect app or by returning the form below in an envelope marked "PTO Membership". You can return the form when we return to school. However, in order to expedite the process, I recommend you use paypal or a credit card. If you have any questions or concerns please send me an email.

If you want your information to be visible in the directory make sure to choose the "OPT IN" option when you enter your data.

We hope you'll join us for our first PTO meeting of the year on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 7:00 PM via Zoom. The login information is below.

The PTO is Mobile - Sign Up Today

Our PTO uses a tool called AtoZ Connect. This one-stop-shop is available via your web browser AND an app for your mobile phone. If you are new to BGS or need a refresher course on AtoZ, you can catch a full recap of how we'll use it on the PTO Website here:

  • Go to and click on “Sign Up Now.”
  • The PTO will approve your access, then you'll verify your information.
  • While you're there, you can purchase your PTO membership

If you joined AtoZ last year, there's Good News! All you have to do is verify your information and pay for your membership. If you pay online, you will have instance access to our online directory. If you pay by check or cash, we will grant you access once we receive the payment, but don't forget to still verify your information.

While you are in AtoZ, you can also check out our Products. We have some BGS pencils, folders and erasers available for purchase in our online store.

Every little bit helps!!

Get Ready for the Book Fair

Mark your calendars! Our Fall Book Fair will be held for two weeks beginning Sept. 21.

Take a look at the Scholastic flyer. It's interactive!!!

Look for an email next week with instructions on how to place your order.

25% of all orders go to our PTO!!!!

What About Homeroom Parents?

Normally at the beginning of the year we are looking for Homeroom Parents. We will still need Homeroom Parents, but until we know more about how our year will look, we're not sure yet how many per class we will need or what the roles will look like.

We will keep you posted as we know more.

Yearbook Committee

I know it's the first issue and already I'm talking about the yearbook! We need a committee to brainstorm about how this year's yearbook will look. We'll probably need more pictures from prior years too, so 4th grade parents start looking for those photos! And while you are at it don't forget to take some pictures of our 4th graders at home as they learn virtually.

From the District....

The Special Education Alliance (SEA) of Bridgewater-Raritan School District would like to share that we have a private facebook group for families of students with special needs. Whether your child has an IEP, 504, is in district or out of district placement, or is in the process of navigating special education services, we invite you to join our group. Information will be shared throughout the year as it relates to Special Education updates, and offers a place to ask families who may be in similar situations for suggestions/tips/etc. The mission of SEA is to provide support, guidance, and a safe sharing environment for families of children with special needs. To find us, please search for Special Education Alliance (SEA) of Bridgewater-Raritan School District on facebook and reply to the question confirming that you have a student in BRRSD. Thank you!
