5 Things you may not know about... Mr. Cartmill
1. He played drums and toured in a band for a long time. Their music is still available on many music sites.
2. He used to have his own radio show called "short songs for short attention spans".
3. Before he was a teacher, he was a tennis instructor and coach.
4. He is an avid shark enthusiast and can't wait to cage dive with them when the time is right.
5. The reason he teaches is to help all students get what they need to be successful and to make sure no students slip through the cracks like he did back in the day.

In Mrs. Booth's science class, students presented energy transformations that occur in a toaster!
Mrs. Carter's Block 1 math class was practicing adding and subtracting negative decimals using Poly-Problem Solvers with partners. Students each picked a colored poly problem octagon along with the corresponding colored answers in a bag. Students recorded their work and answers on a separate sheet. Once they arrived at their answer, they located it in the small answer bag and velcroed it to the matching problem. This was a great self correcting activity.
6th graders on the Dragons team making posters about properties of matter in science class.
The Omega Dragons took advantage of the beautiful fall weather by going outside for a teambuilding kickball game. Mr. Wechter made a great pitcher, and many Dragons showed their enthusiasm and skill on the field.
Some Dragons roared mightily from the sidelines, cheering on the teams!
Students in the POST program are involved in recycling, volunteering at the Carver Senior Center and helping to put together Peyton Packs, which are then given to the wonderful Shane Gives Thanks Food pantry. Making sure we are all contributing members of our community is a goal for all our students. Here are just a couple of pictures that show their involvement:
The Anatomy, AP Bio, and 2D Art classes had a great time at the Boston Museum of Science exploring the Body Worlds Exhibit.
The museum even had hand on activities set up for the students to experience more connections between art and anatomy.
Our talented art students came away with some sketches from the exhibit that showcase the skills they are developing in their classes.
Best Buddies enjoyed their Halloween party this week. They participated in group activities and had a lot of laughs!!
21st Century Literacy students evaluated the credibility of online articles and then presented their findings to the class.

They work as a team to spread awareness on the dangers of substance abuse and addiction throughout the Carver schools and community. If you are interested in joining, please see your High School Counselor.
Thank you to all faculty and staff who graciously donated money and helped raise awareness by allowing StuCo to decorate your classroom / office door! for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Student Council decorated 50 classroom and office doors across the middle high school and raised $475. Our goal for the month is $1,000
Next week on Halloween Students Grades 6-12 and Staff are asked to dress up in a costume (No masks) and we are asking a $2 donation at the door or at lunch. If every student donates $2.00 each we will crush the $1,000 goal we have!!!
