Hello Again,

With the first week of MCA has just begun, I am excited to see our students use their knowledge and skills to show what they know in both Reading and Math. The Reading MCAs began this week, and we will be moving into Math in two weeks, and will conclude with 8th grade Science in early May. Click here for calendar with specifics.

What your students have been learning on a daily basis has helped build the foundation they need to be able to demonstrate high achievement on tests, and I am confident that our students will make great strides this year. Please assist your student in their success by being ready each day.

Some items to consider are:

The Night Before:

• Help your child get to bed on time. Research shows that being well-rested helps students do better.
• Keep your routine as normal as possible.
• Mention the test to show you’re interested, but don’t dwell on it.
• Plan ahead to avoid conflicts on the morning of the test.

The Morning of the Test:

• Help your student get up early to avoid rushing.
• Please be sure to have your student at school on time. Their testing may began immediately after advisory.
• It is imperative that all students are in school during these assessments and report on time, as modifications to daily schedules will occur in order to create a productive testing environment for all students.
• Have your child eat a good breakfast, but not a heavy one. Research shows that students do better if they have breakfast before they take tests.
• Have your child dress in something comfortable.
• Be positive about the test. Explain that doing your best is what counts.
