Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,

The Mansfield Public Schools have been working diligently to increase capacity for the remote delivery of more structured learning activities and experiences to our students.

We’d like to recognize our faculty for all of the proactive work they’ve done thus far- many teachers have expressed a desire to move quickly, and we’ve had to slow the pace in order to move forward in a coordinated manner within the boundaries set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

To clarify- to date, we have missed two school days, as the first four are scheduled to be made up in June. The DESE has made clear that while school is out of session, activities that are provided are to be for enrichment purposes only. At this time, districts are advised not to collect any assignments for grades or credit or require students to complete certain tasks.

Keeping this in mind, we look forward to sharing with you in the coming days our expectations regarding academic enrichment that is more course/grade-level specific and teacher-directed. Right now, we are ensuring that staff have all of the tools, resources, and understanding they need to be effective, and we are working to identify home technology needs for students.

We ask for your patience as we chart these new waters together. Please look for specific information by the end of the week!

Best regards,

Michael Connolly, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning
